Oh man, this is so difficult. Why cotton? Why china? Not sure we can continue the tradition with these two winners. Plus, we don't want to spend a lot of money AND we have too many damn blankets in our house. Our anny is 10/16/10.

@BabyBoecksMom: I didn't know that! We'll have to look into that...we do have a huge deck...it would be nice to lay out and stargaze!

@Alivoo01: That's REALLY cute!

I ended up buying him a Pittsburgh Pirates (baseball) Snuggie! (Or rather, a "warm blanket with sleeves") He'll either love it or think I'm nuts, haha....probably both.

Thanks for all the help!

Our 2nd anniversary just passed (9/18), and I like sticking to tradition. I bought a bunch of cotton socks and cut out a bunch of hearts that attached to the socks with reasons why he knocks my socks off. I also got him a pair of new shoes to complement the numerous new socks he received. Hubby got me a monogrammed plush bath and hand towel.

@FutureMrsMcK: You can get a stand for the hammock. I got one for my dad because they have zero trees that could actually hold a hammock, and it held up longer than the actual hammock!

I loved the idea of keeping up with tradition but failed on this year's (#4). For #2, I forget what was the main "big" gift, but for a little gift, I got him boxers that I hand-embroidered our initials together inside of a heart. I love when he wears those boxers b/c I am not any good at embroidery and it isn't that pretty, but it's made with love (aww...cheesey!)

You could get a nice, pretty cut of cotton cloth and do a print of LO's hands on it (fabric paint or similar), and get your wedding date and LO's birth date painted or embroidered on it and hang it up, or frame it for your home or his work.

@Foodnerd81: @sorrycharlie: Unfortunately his birthday just passed, and I got him clothes then, ha. And I refuse to buy him anymore unless he really needs something replaced, because boyfriend has more clothes than me.

@hilsy85: But a jersey wouldn't count! That's a great idea, thank you!

@artbee: I would totally get a hammock if we had anywhere to hang it up :(

ooh a hammock is a great idea! my husband LOVES to have a blanket to use on the couch, too, so he'd be so excited with a new throw blanket (as weird as that sounds).

does your husband have a favorite type of clothing? for instance, soft t-shirts? my husband loves those waffle type long sleeved and sweatshirts, so if I got him clothes for 2 year he'd be thrilled.

Our anniversary is coming up as well (9/24) and it's also our 2nd...I'm doing the traditional cotton and got him a robe to replace the one he's had for forever...he doesn't really care about robes, but he loves soft snuggly things so I know he'll like it. I also got him Madden 13, lol, so that's not so traditional!
Does he like any sports teams that you could get a jersey for? Or something matching for him and LO--like matching t shirts or something (or is that really cheesy?). Anything for the house that you think he'd like--like new towels or a new cozy bathmat or rug for next to his bed?

Our anniversary is the day before (10-9-10)! We aren't big anniversary gift givers, though. I don't think I got him anything last year, just a card. Am I the worst? I can't think of anything that would be special with cotton... DH actually loves his robe, but I got it for him a while ago and there is no need for a new one. Any special clothing items he's been wanting-- new shirts, nice scarf...? Sorry, no help here.

Me and D's second anniversary is coming up soon (10-10-10).
I love traditions, so I want to try to follow the "traditional" anniversary gift guidelines (cotton for this one).

Last year, for paper, I spent months on his gift--I painted a tree on a large piece of Lotka paper that had our names as part of the roots, I cut printed and cut out about a gazillion leaves (in red, green and orange), and in the center I rewrote/reworked our vows--pledging them again.

This year? I JUST realized how close it is last night, and I have nada. No ideas, no plans, nothing. DH said he had a plan to do something, and he wanted it to be a secret, so that part I'm not worried about, but I've been racking my brain all day trying to think of something to give him. We got new sheets a few months ago and he doesn't care about robes, so those things are both out.

I need some other ideas! What did you/would you give your spouse for your anniversary? And are you nuts like me and try to constrain yourself with "tradition"?

Help!
