Our DD was two weeks old on our anniversary. For dinner, my husband picked up dinner from a nice restaurant to go and we ate in our dining room and used our china and lit some candles. It was stress-free but still really nice.

If you're worried about going to a restaurant, try going for brunch! We always find that our daughter does great at that time of day, and people don't mind nearly as much if she makes baby noises or cries a little as they sometimes do during dinner.

Our 1 year anniversary was 4 days after our son was born. We stayed in, had takeout, a little wine, and cake, then called it a night. I think you could definitely bring him with you to dinner at that age though, so long as you were able to nurse/bottle feed if you needed to. We went out pretty frequently when DS was small and we just made sure to go when it wasn't too busy and try to sit somewhere that we could get up and go outside if we needed to if he was fussy.

@Mamaof2: @BakerBee: i like that idea... but he has no regular sleep pattern yet so there's no telling if he will stay asleep long enough for us to have quality time together. I'm wondering if we could just bring him to dinner with us...

I agree with @Mamaof2! Does any nice restaurant allow for to-go meals? You could always call and explain your situation. I think they would respect you saying you love their food, but for BOTH of your sanity and enjoyment you think bringing your 3 month old is a bad idea.

How about once he is down for the night just a quiet dinner at home? Maybe pop in a fun movie and make some popcorn!

Our anniversary is coming up and by then DS will be 3 months old. We're not comfortable leaving him with anyone yet. Any suggestions on how we can spend the day and/or night?
