I agree with the others - it's not necessary! They'll get gifts from their current kids.

That said, I am gifting our toddler's previous teacher, but that's because it's only one additional person and she had him until September and she still watches him in the afternoons when his main teacher leaves for the day.

i don't think it's necessary. that being said, we are including LO's former teachers because we have been very tardy on giving them thank you gifts after LO transitioned to the next room.

Overkill - we only gift current teachers

You could always give them some cookies though with a sweet note

I probably would have given a gift when we switched classrooms. If you didn't though, I'd just say that ship has sailed. I think the cookies and muffins would be enough.

I was thinking about writing a note with the group food gift that says, "Dear Ms. Jane, Ms. Katie, Ms. etc. and all the lovely ladies" -- calling out both the current teachers and the teachers in the baby room. Probably small and silly, but I feel that way at least they get some direct acknowledgement.

I only give gifts to whoever are little one's current teachers when the gift giving occasion (Christmas, teacher appreciation, etc) occurs. Our day care tends to move the kids through classrooms pretty quickly, so I would have to gift a lot of teachers if I did anyone who had taught her all year. I assume those teachers' current students will take care of them.

I asked DH bc my MIL and her sister run a daycare and he says his understanding is usually both class teachers get gifts. It's not like expected per se but just that it's the norm.

I don't think it's necessary. I would say just the teachers you are currently working with, or teachers that you worked with in the very recent past (like within a couple months)

If you gave them gifts when your son moved classrooms, I wouldn't get them gifts. If you didn't, I would get them a gift card too for Xmas.

Did they ever get gifts from you, like last year or during a teacher appreciation week? If not, I'd probably get them something small, like just the cookies and not a gift card. We did something similar earlier this year when the teacher appreciation week happened a month after LO had moved out of the infant room (and those teachers weren't around last year).

My son was in the baby room from January to August, and I'm not going to get gifts for those teachers. They are wonderful, but it's too much for me. They'll benefit from the all-staff tray and the children in their care currently will likely get them something.

I think that's overkill. Did you give them gifts last Christmas? That should cover you with them.

We're planning on getting each of my son's 3 daycare teachers a $25 gift card and I'm going to make a container of shortbread cookies for them. I planned to also make a tray of cookies or muffins to take in for the rest of the staff. Today my husband said that he thinks we also need to get gifts for the teachers who had him when he was in the baby room - he was there from January to July. I think it's unnecessary - they'll get gifts from the students currently in their care! It would add 4 additional gifts. What do you think - is it a must do, or overkill?
