@Ajsmommy: We stayed at the Polynesian for our last trip and even though I kind of wanted to try something new this year, we ended up booking the Polynesian again because the location just simply can't be beat, especially with young kids and if you plan on spending more time at Magic Kingdom than at other parks. Last trip, we were able to come back to the resort for LO's nap every afternoon, then we'd take the monorail or boat to MK almost every evening because it was so quick. We only used the buses twice in 5 days.

Honestly I probably wouldn't pay the rack rate (and I definitely wouldn't pay what they are asking for suites) but we've been lucky enough to get decent rates during promotions for both trips. The resort itself is really lovely and we got a patio last time so that we could lounge outside while LO napped. This year we will be going with a 4 year old and 9 month old so our schedule will be a bit different but I think the location will still work out best for us. Our kids go to bed early but I'm hoping one night to take DD to see the fireworks from the beach if she can stay awake that long.

@Ajsmommy: For me, the Poly is the kind of hotel experience that has the right amount of theme without being overdone and babyish. It appeals to the adult on vacation in me, like I could have the luxury of the exclusive resort experience while my son has the fun of the parks. Full disclosure, I've only stayed onsite at the Beach Club and one of the All Star Resorts, we typically stay offsite and get a condo. One of these trips I would for sure like to go to the Poly, but in all honesty, when it comes time to book at those places, I get serious sticker shock.

I've stayed in many a luxury hotel while I was travelling for business (I am way too cheap to spend it on my personal dime for a vacation when I am mostly out of the room) and one thing that I always enjoyed is their attention to detail. I could, for example, need a recommendation on a restaurant. They call for me, make a reservation and then they arrange for me to get there in the hotel's car. If I need an item ironed, they take care of it, rather than bringing me an iron and ironing board.

@Ajsmommy: I think all the deluxe resorts are probably pretty similar in quality, although of that list I've personally only ever stayed at WL and Boardwalk so I can't truly compare. I think the Polynesian is so popular because it's on the monorail and near TTC (monorail to Epcot), it has a clear theme, and as one of the original resorts has a certain nostalgia factor. And in my case I find I always want to eat there  But otherwise between the deluxes you probably can't go wrong, just start narrowing down by deciding which park you'd like to be closest to.

Another thing to note with the deluxe resorts is that all the standard rooms have balconies. This past trip we wanted to get a suite for the same reasons as you do (probably would've been AoA due to budget), but instead we stayed at WL and DH and I just hung out outside our room and watched the fireworks after our son went to bed. This allowed us to stay closer to MK and at a much nicer hotel than if we had stayed at AoA. WL isn't on the monorail, but you can take a stroller on the ferry too so it was still convenient.

@Ajsmommy: Yes! Good point. I guess my question would be what are you trying to get out of this. The dream/fantasy vacation with no issues with cost. Or make this work as a family trip with extra budget to spend in other ways.

We stayed in Bay Lake Tower (part of Contemporary) in a one bedroom suite and it was perfect for our first Disney trip! We loved walking over to Magic Kingdom! For future I'd love a suite at Polynesian or Grand Floridian for the unique theming.

@Ajsmommy: the overwater bungalows at the Polynesian, for sure!

Otherwise, I would pick the Polynesian, GF, or Contemporary. I think the monorail is probably most convenient. They were all booked for suites the week we are going, so we are staying at Boardwalk. I think Beach Club would be ahead of Boardwalk in my opinion. Then all the rest.

Wow, the Polynesian is way in the lead. Is it really that much nicer than the other deluxe's?@T.H.O.U.: I totally get that the price points are vastly different but you just never know what people will recommend unless you ask plus maybe the $$$$ isn't worth it when you're going with young kids (ie: you'd go to Ruth's Chris for a great steak if $$ wasnt an issue but you might not go there if you had two small kids :silly: you might opt for Texas roadhouse instead bc they can throw peanuts on the floor.

Polynesian is the best! We've also stayed at the contemporary, which was nice but further down the monorail route. We just love the classic feel of the Polynesian too and it's still fun for kids.

If $$ was no object, the Polynesian. Maybe someday ... haha

We usually stay at Caribbean Beach which we like, but with the renos we are staying at Beach club next year. I'm super super pumped about that. The pool is amazing and being able to walk to two parks is a huge plus! Renting DVC points made it much more affordable and in our price range.

I also would consider Animal Kingdom Lodge. I know my girls would love that.

We stayed at the Polynesian in October and the convenience could not be beat. We couldn't afford a suite but it wasn't a big deal beacuse our son was SO beat at the end of each day that he slept through us talking and watching TV in the room. It was so nice to be able to hit the park in the morning and then ride the monorail back to the hotel for pool and rest time in the heat of the afternoon and then go back to the parks for dinner in the evening. Can't recommend it enough if you can swing it!

Most definitely a monorail resort even without a suite. They convenience factor is so amazing to not have to break down a stroller. We did the AoA suite when my second was a baby for the kitchenette. It was nice, but not necessary. We would do any of the deluxe's over AoA. Kids love the AoA decor though...

Polynesian for convenience factor to both Magic Kingdom and Epcot (can walk to the TTC).

That said, the suites there are insanely expensive. If suites were a deal breaker and you don't have over 1k per night to spare, I'd choose Art of Animation.

Bay lake towers, it's technically part of contemporary. If you get a one bedroom you an out the kids to bed and still hang out. Can walk to magic kingdom and take the monorail to Epcot. Super convenient location.

My second choice would be boardwalk villas, same option with the one bedroom. Walkable to Epcot and Hollywood studios. Can hop on monorail in front of Epcot to magic kingdom.

With young kids, anything with easy access to MK (monorail, ferry) is a plus! I was on the fence between a few, but I voted for Polynesian because I like its food options the best. Those overwater bungalows look nice!

Without young kids, I would probably vote for Boardwalk given the easy walk to Epcot.

-4 yo
-Prefer a suite (so kids can go to bed as usual and parents can stay up)
