We put his chair right next to the table and taught him to put the stuff he wants to throw on the table instead. He doesn't always' but if we see him about to drop something and we remind him he will usually do it. We also taught him the sign for all done so that he can tell us he is finished instead of just throwing his food like he used to.

My DD is 15 months and what I do now is after she is done, we clean up together. I have her help me pick up the big crumbs and throw it away. I noticed that if she drops something and it lands on her shirt, she will pick it up right away.

I know there are posts about toddlers throwing food when they are done eating or not hungry, but what do you when your toddler throws food in the middle of the meal? DS is 19 months old and likes throwing the bits of food he's not eating on the floor. For example, he doesn't like to eat the skin of peaches, so after he eats all the flesh he drops the skins on the floor. I tell him no, we don't do that, etc. I'd consider taking all the peaches away at that point, but he eats no other fruits/veggies, so I don't want to mess with a good thing. Not sure if there's any real advice to offer, I'm just frustrated!
