Like others have said, she won't play with it in the conventional way, but she would probably still like it! I think my son would probably carry the people around or scatter them everywhere. If there are buttons to push that make sound, he would like that. I think it's a good option! Something she'll grow into and plus you like it too! I find that if I like DS's toys, it's more fun for me to sit with him and play with him.

My LO plays with a similar doll house at the house I babysit at. She knows which things make noise or songs and presses them and loves it! She obviously doesn't pretend play yet but likes to play with it in her own way :)

@photojane: I think she would have fun with it, even if she doesn't understand how to play with it. Plus, I looked at toys that she would be able to play with until next Christmas. (PS, That play set is adorable and I just might have to get one for DD now!)

I have a 13 month old son and while he wouldn't play with it as a house, he'd definitely press buttons and he loves carrying around little figures so I could see this working!

My son played with a similar house at my inlaws, we were looking for something a little less pink for him, but in the process, he lost interest in it. He's almost 3 now and role plays pretty well, I would say it was around 18 months when it clicked and he realized what he was supposed to do with the figures and the houses or barn or whatever he was into.

It wasn't until much closer to age two that my daughter really used imagination to "play" with things like that. Like @SugarplumsMom: said. She may play with the people but not the way intended before that.

We decided to invest in some other LP sets (she loves the school with the swing, the bus, and the barn). We will invest in a normal dollhouse when she's a bit older.

@photojane: At 12 months, my DD would have just thrown the figures. Now at 15.5 months, she would probably try to hug the figures (she likes to "hug" small animals) and then proceed to hide them throughout the house. I'd end up playing with it  Hopefully within the next few months, my LO will start to put things back instead of just finding joy in scattering things everywhere. I really like small toys, and I think she does too, but right now, it's too much of a hassle finding/organizing them everyday.

Yes, we got the Little People Zoo for C's first birthday- he liked to just hold the animals for the first few months, then he started figuring out he could do things with them after, moving them around, putting them in cars, activating the noise areas.

Right now (21 months) his favorites are the school bus and airplane, he knows how to roll them around and loves to put all sorts of random things inside. My nephews are almost 3 and they still like playing with the Little People toys.

They had a house like this in LO's toddler room and it seemed to get a decent amount of use. She is now 22 months and we have some LP toys that she uses from time to time. I agree that having noises/other attractions would be helpful, but I think it is a good idea!

That (well the purple version) is what we are getting A for Christmas! She will have just turned one. It was on sale on Amazon a while back. They may not be able to play with it in the conventional way at that age, but I'm sure they will play with it.

In case you didn't read the last Christmas post -- Sadie will be 10 months at Christmas, so I'm trying to put together a wishlist that will work for Christmas and her first birthday (February). I'm trying to stick to toys that will last her through her first year (ideally we won't need to buy any new toys before next Christmas), and preferably even longer than that. Y'all already gave me some great options!

I was finishing up my list for my MIL tonight, and I found an adorable little FP Little People house. It's so cute, I kind of just want to play with it myself. It says 12 months-4 years, which is ideal (4 years of play!), but I'm wondering if Sadie will actually be able to enjoy it at 12 months. Is this something your one-year-old would be into? Or should I wait for her second Christmas for toys like this?
