Co-sleep/co-bed.
I was so terrified of SIDS, bought the AngelCare monitor, crib was set up, no bumpers/blankets, etc.
With breastfeeding it was easier to have the bassinet next to the bed, but more often than not he would end up in bed with me. We both slept better.

I never thought I'd use a stroller, I was so bent on babywearing. Go figure my kid hated anything that resembled a swaddle and screamed in the Ergo until he was big enough to sit up and look around in it, he hated be held close facing in. I also now own 3 strollers.. he LOVES riding in them! haha

I never thought I would buy my baby expensive shoes. I always said that they grow out of them so fast, it's silly to spend so much. And then LO's first pair of shoes were $40, and her second pair $26. I was thinking I'd spend more like $10!

The first pair really caught me off guard because her feet were so big for her age and she was such a late walker, it was impossible to find something inexpensive with a soft sole so after lots of research we just had to bite the bullet and spend the money. And now I"m realizing that being a podiatrists daughter that shoes really are important to me, and even if she does just wear them for a short time I want them to be comfy and support her little feet well. I wear orthodic shoes only for that reason.

What do you do as a parent that you never thought you would?
