Yeah I feel myself in denial that this is the new normal - like if we accept it as normal, then we've given up all hope of making any changes. We can't continue to just "get used to it."

@KT326: This one hits home geographically to me, too. :bummed:
@Corduroy: I'm a teacher and we recently had an active shooter training. It SHOOK me for days after. I am so appreciative for the training, but it disgusts me that this is the world we live in.

@KT326: We've been to the Garlic Festival in years past so this is hitting close to home too. Last week we had active shooter training at work and I started tearing up because it seems to crazy that this is our 'new normal'. Then I felt bad for crying because I know my kids have already had active shooter training so why should I be crying. When will act on a better solution?

I feel the same. As if I don't worry about them in school, when we go to church, go to the mall, go ANYWHERE... We have tons of local festivals that we go to as well and just thinking about the fact that no place is safe kills me. And I agree it hits SO close to home b/c it could've been any of our kids.

I drove by a really bad car wreck yesterday and then read that two people died on the scene, both only in their early 20's. I'm definitely just in a really bad place mentally, feeling helpless/hopeless :crying:

This one hits close to home. There was a mass shooting at the Gilroy Garlic Festival yesterday. 40 minutes from where I live, where I almost took my family yesterday.

I have been close to tears all morning, I hardly slept last night. A 6 year old was one of the victims. 3 people died and 12(?) were wounded. I just keep thinking what if, what if I had taken my family there? Would we still have been there? It happened as they were starting to close up. The little boy was in the bounce house. My kids love the bounce house and I'm sure we would have spent a lot of time over there.

My heart just hurts that these mass shootings keep happening. Please keep the Gilroy community in your thoughts and prayers today.
