@Cherrybee: Ugh! When did your LO get better at napping? In my head 6 months is the magic age but I know not all babies get better by then!! I agree about avoiding the overtired stage..... Naps suck!

Naps were almost the death of me too!! I wish I had some sensible advice for you but my LO was the queen of the crap-nap. I say just do what you need to do at this stage - and if that's let her nap in the carrier or in your arms so be it. IMO, the important thing is not to let your LO get overtired because then you have a whole lotta trouble on your hands!

We have this problem too. LO really needs 4 naps because she usually wakes up between 4 and 5pm from her 3rd nap and bedtime is 830. She has a hard time staying up more than 1.5 hrs and is always rubbing her eyes and so sleepy. Usually we try to get her down around 6 or 630 for a quick catnap until 7 or 730, but even though she is ALWAYS tired/rubbing her eyes before we try (like for all naps) this is the one she fights the hardest. I don't know why. For us, we rock her to sleep then put her in her bed for all sleep, but this nap I will sometimes just hold her the whole time if she is restless. And if she just refuses we'll stick her in the swing sometimes. She rarely falls asleep in there but she'll sort of chill for 30 min or so and I feel like its restful even if it isn't sleep bc she isn't AS cranky by bedtime as she is when we don't do the swing.

I personally think it's ok to hold him or put him in a carrier for that last nap. Around 5-7 months they usually consolidate naps anyway, so you may find that he drops it soon anyway! You also may find that as his naps in the crib lengthen, he doesn't need that last nap.

Surprise, surpise. I have another freaking nap question. Naps will be the death of me, I'm sure.
I'm slowly getting LO to nap in his crib, albeit for short catnaps. I'd previously been holding him for all of his naps. I'm totally unsuccessful for the last nap, though. I end up letting him cry a good amount but ultimately get him up and put him in a carrier for that last nap. I plan to train him soon but I don't know if it will ever be effective for that last nap!!
Does anyone else have a lot of trouble putting LO down for that last nap??? Does anyone have advice for me?? If he doesn't sleep for that nap, he'd be awake for about 3-4 hours before bedtime, which is way too long!!
Or do I just have to suck it up and wait for him to drop this last nap? He currently takes 4 short naps a day at 4 months.
