ETA: they are floating in our bodies for so long and then everything outside is so new. They just have so many skin issues because of it. Normal!

@crazydoglady: first off 😍

Second, the top of her head is definitely cradle cap. And I still think that the other stuff is same idea. Prob not called cradle cap since it’s around her nose and ears but I’m sure it’s the same “concept”.
My 2nd sons cradle cap didn’t look the same as my first’s but my ped confirmed it. My 2nds was more like white bumps that could be picked off vs scales like my firsts.

Thank you! So, she does have stuff on her head but it's white patches (not scales.) the areas around her nose and ears are worse this morning. I got some better pics. oh and she is 5 weeks old.

@Mrsbells: We also used the Mustela cradle cap foaming shampoo and my daughter's cradle cap magically went away. That stuff is amazing. I would definitely try that. I agree it looks like cradle cap.

It’s a very new newborn right? When my babies were new, their skin did this in spots all over. Our doc said to just leave it alone for the most part and we did and it cleared up. They had cradle cap too, but it was on their head. I also used the Mustela newborn soap.

Kind of looks like baby eczema? My dd had that as a newborn and we did oil often after bath and after awhile it worked. She seems to have outgrown it except sometimes behind the ear. Dr said that one of the first places you see it is actually behind the ear. We didn't have it on the ear though.

@Mrsbells: I second the Mustela suggestion, cleared my son’s right up. I liked the shampoo so much I kept using it until DS was a toddler.

Looks like cradle cap to me. From the photo I can see it under her hair too. Mustella foaming newborn shampoo and the cradle cap brush on amazon work wonders

@crazydoglady: maybe I’m wrong but in the pic it looks like she does have it above the ear where her hair is. Is that something else?

@crazydoglady: I think so. DS had very little on his head, just one spot that persisted and then his ears and nose.

To me it looks like cradle cap. My son's extended down around his ears and nose. It took a long time for it to completely go away. I ended up treating it with a little bit of cortisone cream after his bath (and used head and shoulders for his shampoo).

@crazydoglady: I understand!! It’s funny my son had beautiful skin too. My older daughter had it horribly but I promise it goes away! I definitely found it hard to let it go at the time.

@Raspberry: agree, looks sort of like cradle cap that just extended to her ears a little bit.
Whatever you’re doing for cradle cap I would try to do on ears as well.

Looks normal to me and “wait it out” but I hate all that stuff too! Could be eczema but seems it would be more than one place. I’d try vanicream if you want to smooth it out and moisturize in the mean time, can’t hurt.

I think its just the first layer of skin basically shedding off. I forgot what our pediatrician called it. Our son had it over most of his body when he was around 3 weeks old. Their skin is just getting used to being outside of the womb.
