@catlady: I hadn't even realized that swelling could last for awhile post-partum. In this case though it pretty much encompasses the entire winter, so all the more reason why I need to find something comfortable.

I had a late November baby but my feet/legs stayed bigger for a few months post-partum and almost none of my normal boots fit. I mostly wore a pair of LL Bean boots with thinsulate and I kept the laces very loose (and put them in those curly knots so I didn't have to tie/untie them).

@elljay: awesome! I have put spikes in running shoes before, which are amazing for traction, but I didn't realize they made boots where they could be flipped in and out.

I didn't have to deal with being very pregnant in the winter, but I live in Chicago and these boots are amazing for snow/icy conditions. They actually have spikes on the bottom that you can flip out for extra grip.

@nana87: @raspberries: @MaryM: Thank you all! And good call on laces, I hadn't even thought how useful that could be for swelling...

I have waterproof uggs. They don't have the ones I got a few years ago, but I like these even more! (mine looked like traditional uggs, but had laces up the back. I keep them tied and just slip them off and on)

http://www.ugg.com/women-boots/kilmer/1019652.html#start=13&cgid=women-weather

They're obviously more stiff than regular uggs...but still plush and comfy. I think the soles are more supportive than regular uggs.

I have these in black and they were great for my winter pregnancy (baby was due in March): https://www.landsend.com/products/womens-all-weather-boots/id_314264?sku_0=::DCQ

DH had to unzip and pull them off toward the end, but I regularly wore them with tights/work pants and they worked fine. I mainly appreciated how grippy the bottom was when I felt like my center of gravity was about a foot in front of me.

I just wore Sorel snow boots that laced up so that they could be loosened, though I never had a problem with swelling. My work place is not very formal though, and I like the way they look with leggings and dresses...

I really need a pair of new winter boots, but am struggling a bit with what to get as I'm due in January. I need them to be nice enough to wear to work, and most of my maternity wardrobe is dresses. But it also can snow a lot here, so I need good traction for walking around in them nine months pregnant. And I have no idea how much I should expect my feet and calves to swell, and assume I need something that comes on and off easy. Any moms with winter babies find a boot they loved?
