@photojane: AWESOME! Yes, a friend of mine did the Miles Circuit and her posterior baby turned the first time and the number of contractions she was having went down by a LOT- prodromal labor is very common with posterior presentations.

@FarmWifeGina: Thanks for referring me to the Miles Circuit. I've actually already done two of the steps today, but out of order! I actually sleep in the SIMS position, and didn't know that was an actual thing. I also bounced on my ball earlier, and we took our pup for a walk when my husband got home from work. I'm going to try to the open knee chest position now. Even if it doesn't bring about real-deal labor, I think that it could be helpful because baby is currently posterior.

@photojane: It might be prodromal labor, but not false labor because it IS getting something done! Either working on your cervix or, more likely, working to get baby into the absolute best position for birth. Google the Miles Circuit for some "exercises" that can help get baby settled exactly the way s/he needs to be for birth. This can either bring prodromal labor to a halt or be the nudge needed to bring full-on labor. Good luck!

@photojane: Thanks for following up! Must be false labor. I hope you don't have too many days in a row of this! Sounds like your body is definitely prepping. She'll be here soon.

@pregnantbee, @FarmWifeGina: No dice, ladies! :( Thanks for checking in though! It progressed a lot last night before bed, and I was certain that it was early labor, and that I would be heading to the hospital today. But then, of course, today was just more of the same. I woke up feeling pretty good with very little in the way of contractions, and then they've gotten stronger as the day progressed -- just like yesterday. No terribly painful contractions, though, and nothing worthy of a trip to L&D. False labor, maybe? I just hope that with all this action we are at least getting close!

My contractions were never ever in my back. I would probably go to the doc with any contractions that are uncomfortable. As a preemie mom who went into labor at 23 weeks and delivered at 25, it's better to be safe than sorry!

I knew it was real when I felt like I couldn't sit still through them; otherwise they felt the same in the beginning as Braxton hicks. Good luck and get rest in case it's the start!

Thanks everyone! Y'all are super helpful. I'm kind of hoping they're very early labor, and kind of hoping it's nothing. I'm ready & not ready at the same time!! The squeezing is starting to make me really nauseous, so I think I'll take a shower and see if that helps. :)

I had those from 24 weeks on, I was labeled PTL the remainder of my pregnancy. Do you have a timer on your phone? I downloaded BabyBump and it has a really easy to use timer, my dr always told me if they take your breath away, have a peak, and you can time them then you need to call us. I called once a week!

I would guess at least early contractions and not just BH. I also had BH from about 20w on and the afternoon on the day I went into labor, I had one that was so uncomfortable that I had to stop my conversation. I had maybe one more like that later in the afternoon then went into labor around 10p. And they felt the same as those 2 I had felt earlier. If in doubt, don't hesitate to call your dr! Start looking for patterns.

Those sound like real contractions to me.
If they become time able and increase in level of pain I'd start to really watch.

If you're having a hard time deciding if they're real, early labor contractions is to get into a warm bath for a half hour or so and they'll go away if it's not the real deal. If it really is labor, the bath can help you relax so they're more effective. Also, you can put your feet up and make sure you're hydrated because not drinking enough can trigger contractions. But you can have contractions that aren't BH without being in labor. So the bath or just resting and seeing what happens are good things to try. I recommend the bath. Who CAN'T use a nice hot bath at 10 months pregnant?! Or a shower works too. <-----I'm not so much of a bath person.

This is long. I'm a paranoid first time mommy - forgive me!

So, I know a million questions have been asked about contractions vs. Braxton Hicks, but I'm having a hard time deciphering between the two as a FTM. I've been experiencing BH for most of the second half of my pregnancy, but it's usually just a tightening that lasts for a pretty long while (doesn't come and go). The BH I usually have are normally associated with physical activity or occur at night around bedtime. All day today, though, I've been having a different kind of tightening that comes and goes in waves... starts off light, definite peak of discomfort/light pain, and then a subsiding. It's my entire stomach from my boobs to my pelvic bone, and is sometimes associated with mild menstrual-like cramping from around my left hip into my inner thigh. It feels like I'm being squeezed. I wouldn't say it hurts, but it's definitely more uncomfortable than any BH I've had so far.

I'm not sure if this is just the crazy uncomfortable BH that come when the end is near or if maybe these are the beginnings of the real deal. I know I've heard it explained that real contractions start in your back & wrap around, but I don't have any back pain.

Expert opinions? Am I getting close or just over-analyzing?
