I havent done anything in the theatre world since becoming a mom, but I have to agree that I couldn't imagine starting rehearsals 1 month pp.

My daughter is 14 months old and I just now feel like I would be ready to leave her enough to do a show.

@greenebee: that sounds easier then....my brain is such a fuzz post pregnancy, I think learning lines combined with staying awake would be the two hardest parts.....and you already know the lines!

Oh boy. Thanks for the input!

Well, it's a show that I did last year and I am reprising my same role, so hopefully there will be flexibility with my schedule of rehearsals since I've done the show before. Good thing about the four month mark - I've got another one that will definitely be more regular rehearsals by then!

How frequently are the rehearsals?
Honestly, I couldn't have imagined starting rehearsals a month after giving birth.....not because of the pumping, but just how demanding LO is.
If it was one or two nights a week, that would be more doable.
I would say it was about the 4 month mark where I would have felt comfortable doing something with SO watching the baby-work, a show, etc.
I haven't done any performing since LO was born, but I would feel ready now @5 months.

I was wondering if there were any ladies out there who have chosen a career in acting or theatre who have had or are having children recently/soon?

I am seven months preg and planning on finding a new job after my maternity leave that will allow me time with my new LO and still allow me to pursue acting. I know a few ladies who have done it -- and I've already thought of the changes that I'll need to make (not doing as many shows per season, new work plan, etc).

But my question is a little more specific: Did anyone start a show just after giving birth ? If so, how was it and were you able to breast-feed? I'm due in August, and I'll be starting rehearsals for a show in Sept. and just wanted to gauge other peoples' experiences. My husband will be able to take care of our LO in the evenings when I will be in rehearsal, but I know I'll have to pump while there, and will probably be exhausted. Is it doable?

(Sorry for the long lead in!) Thanks in advance for the advice!
