It was great - the mall was empty and there weren't many lines. We hit up Belk, Macy's, Home Depot (not at the mall) and Kohls. At Kohls we waited a total of 5 minutes in line. I have worked retail, and I know that most of those stores will have stuff at the exact same price at other days without the massive crowds of insane people. Some stores have items that they only carry for Black Friday, and I know places like Best Buy sometimes have crazy-not-to-be-repeated-until-next-year sales. IF I were to drag myself out of bed, (or in this year's case, stay up to shop), it would only be to go to those types of stores.</p> <p>However, Kohl's and the like...nope. As a former employee, it is honestly not worth it. Stay home, sleep in, shop online if you must shop. It was sooooo crazy in there, I have never seen so much hostility in a single building. Then MIL and I left at 4:30am to go actual black Friday shopping. I don't buy into big business and all of the politics that go with stirring up a ton of issues and problems for savings that you can really get any other day of the year. However, last night at about 7pm we decided to go out and we landed some pretty good deals. We would pick up some presents for the family and make an adventure out of it. This year we stayed home for the first time, and it felt a little odd. </p> <p>While I didn't plan to leave the house, I couldn't pass up Anthropologie's additional 50% off on sale items. I tried to shop online, but my husband convinced me to see what was in store. This year, stores opened at midnight and he did that too. He doesn't mind and I think likes the experience. He came home with a lot of good stuff, for good to insanely good prices, and maybe about half of our holiday gifts for family... I'm definitely not complaining! </p> <p>During the day, we went to a few stores with both kids and it honestly wasn't that bad. Going shopping in our city though is always somewhat about the crowds anyway so maybe we're used to it, but it's not like there are stampedes and pandemonium everywhere. </p> <p>Between all that and going online, we are practically done with our shopping for the year... We were home by midnight. We got up this morning (at 9:45) and went to Kohls, came home, and around 1:30 walked over to Joann's and Burlington Coat Factory. We managed to get most of our shopping done which was nice.<br /> Any Black Friday shoppers here? Any die-hards who did the midnight or 5 a.m. thing? </p>
