Well shoot. In that case I have used prefolds and um... soakers? but not flats. Sorry. :(

@pastemoo: I have typically heard those referred as soakers, inserts, or even doublers. Flats traditionally refers to large squares of cloth which are single layer and not pre-folded. Photos of flats on babies and how to fold them (scroll down):

http://www.greenmountaindiapers.com/flat.htm

Prefolds are similar to flats in some ways, but some of the folding has been done for you and they are sewn into multiple layers. Prefolds:

@MusicaV: We are not. I use stuff like these:
http://www.fluffenvy.com/Flip-Insert-Stay-Dry_p_103.html
https://www.abbyslane.com/Mother-ease-Bamboo-Terry-Inserts_p_318.html
http://www.gdiapers.com/shop/diaper-inserts/gcloth-cloth-diaper-inserts
I guess they can also be called "soakers" except that usually people call them soakers when they go into a pocket diaper.

I'm kind of confused! I call them flats from the cloth 101 class I took.

@MusicaV: That's what I thought were flats too. Everywhere I looked when researching cloth diapers called those flats.

@pastemoo: What dimensions are your "flats?" I'm not sure if we're talking about the same thing.

This is what I'm talking about (27x27):
http://www.fluffenvy.com/OsoCozy-Birdseye-Flat-Diaper--Dozen_p_470.html

@Weagle: Flat: pad shaped absorbent fabric. Sometimes known as a soaker.
Prefold : big square of absorbent fabric. You can fasten it all kinds of ways or trifold it and use it like a flat.

@Weagle: Flats don't need to be folded. Mine are presewed flat. You can sew your prefolds into a trifold. Sooo easy.
@MusicaV: The prefolds we have I just trifold and use the same was i use my flats. My flats don't need folding

I use flats. @Thehistoryofus: They are like a pad that you just lay into the cover.

THEY ROCK. You can beat the crap out of them (literally, hahah). You can bleach them if need be and it won't wreck the rest of the diaper because you wash the covers with your clothes (unless they're super gross. Don't bleach covers though!)
They're like prefolds but easier and more costly. But I love them, So EASY.

It's time for us to go up a size in pre-folds, but I'm not thrilled about the leg fit on DS. I'm considering flats. I'd love some feedback and advice from those who use or have tried flats. Thanks!
