@tanjowen: @MrsLonghorn: nailed it! I'm in north Dallas so a lot of my ideas are on her list and further north into the burbs. Playstreet museum for example is awesome when being outside isn't an option. There are also several free indoor play areas. Of course Klyde Warren and Scottish Rite are both awesome outdoor options. Have fun! Hopefully you'll find great weather!!

@MrsLonghorn: Love this list, thank you for taking the time to write it all down! I think we are going to try the Dallas World Aquarium, the Perot Museum, and if the weather is nice and we need an extra activity, the Zoo. Thank you everyone!

@Tanjowen: March can be hit or miss weather wise, but so far we've had a very mild and warm winter so if it stays the way it's been, March should be great!!

@MrsLonghorn: your list is great! There are some places I didn't know of! Our LO is 10 months so we are going to need variety as he gets older 😃

Dallas in March could be amazing weather, or cold....you never know. I just hosted a playgroup this morning, and we stayed inside at first, but everyone was in the backyard by 10am. Today's high will be 65, but Friday should get up to 80! Spring in Texas is just all over the place!!

If you need to stay indoors:
* Northpark Mall - free. It is shaped like a giant square with an outdoor courtyard in the middle. There is a duck/turtle pond inside near Neimans that is always surrounded by toddlers, there are planters with neat/colorful plants throughout the mall, and plenty of real restaurants in addition to the food court. There are often toddler activities in the "north court" (indoors) hosted by Bookmarks, a branch of the public library that is in the mall (yoga, music, stories...). My favorite spot for lunch or coffee is LaDuni (bonus: it is next to Bookmarks and the patio opens onto the courtyard so the kids can play)
* Dallas Museum of Art - free and often has kids art activities
* Children's Aquarium at Fair Park - $ but not fancy
* Dallas World Aquarium - $$$ but awesome. Almost like an indoor zoo
* Texas Discovery Gardens and Butterfly House/Insectarium at Fair park - $ (and right by the Children's Aquarium). New butterflies are released daily at noon, but that is our nap time so we've never seen it.
* Perot Museum of Nature and Science - $$$

Outside:
* Arboretum - children's area is amazing!! Also, you can bring your own food/drink in, and if the weather is nice, they often have evening concerts - bring a picnic blanket and a bottle of wine for a fun outdoor date spot!
* Dallas Zoo - skip the children's area, and go feed the giraffes. There is also a special Lego exhibit going on until April that is supposed to be cool.
* The playground at Scottish Rite Hospital - free (parking is free too) and great for toddlers and bigger kids too.
* Klyde Warren Park - free. Bonus: if you're there for a meal, the food trucks line the street there. There are tons of other local playgrounds and parks too.

I will keep thinking -- spring in Dallas is fantastic!

@lawbee11: the Perot museum looks great! Thank you for all the ideas. I had to Google Babes, but I can get behind some fried chicken and a cider house

@Boopers: Thank you for the link! Do you think the zoo is worth it in March? For some reason I keep thinking it will be cold and all the animals will not be out and about, but then again, it's Texas and it could be super warm.

@MrsLonghorn: Yay! Thank you!

Klyde Warren Park
Dallas Zoo
Fort Worth Zoo (although it is a drive from Dallas)
Fort Worth also has some good museums for kids
The Arboretum
Dallas World Aquarium
Perot Museum

There are lots of neighborhoods in Dallas that have good restaurants like Trinity Groves, Uptown, Lower Greenville and Deep Ellum.

The Dallas subreddit is active and every week they update a list of things to do around town.

@Tanjowen: Not from there but has visited several times. I was going to suggest the aquarium :silly: I haven't been here but want to take LO soon: http://www.perotmuseum.org/

Also, Klyde Warren park looks really cool. Have you ever eaten at Babe's? It's a must-do for us every time we go to Dallas.

This cidery would be fun for date night: http://www.bishopcider.com/

We are going to see DH's family mid March for a week in Texas. LO is 2 and we want some activities to take him to during the week so we can all escape the house. Last time we were there we did the children's aquarium, which was fun. Ideas welcomed!

Also would like any ideas for a fun date night since we will have grandma care
