@Mamaof2: yep!! Perfectly normal. I'd help him with brushing to make sure he's getting them clean. I work with kids and I see this probably 80% of the time!

I'm a dentist!

It's actually the most common for those teeth to come in behind the baby teeth. Usually the tongue pushes the teeth forward after the baby tooth comes out and everything line up. There really isn't a way to speed up natural exfoliation unless the tooth is already mobile (wiggly) if it's wiggly then wiggling it often should help but if enough root hasn't been resorbed yet it will be tough got him to do on his own. I would recommend just waiting it out and not worrying about it. It will take its course in time.

I would only extract it of it was abscessed or if he was 8-9 years old!

My 6 yr old has his bottom teeth coming up - they are coming up behind his other teeth instead of directly under it - the one on the left took some time to fall out but it did on its own - the other one is up but the front tooth wont budge!

His dentist says this happens time to time and to that he may need to help the tooth come out - problem is DS has anxiety and freaks out at the dentist so I dread taking him back - any ideas how to get that tooth loose on our own??
