@Bee: 9 months is great & I hope I can pump for that long! Good to hear that your supply came in and that you're pumping for Olive. I also was not a fan of the uterine contractions while pumping, and it made me cry in pain a few times.

@sandsandmore: That is great! Keep it up! Pumping is also all I know, and I've adjusted my life accordingly these past couple of months.

@ohapostrohphe: It was your recommendation that led me to purchase the Hygeia Enjoye, and I am soooo glad I did. Best pump ever!

@j0s1e267: Congrats on a full year of breast milk for your LO! I hope to have a big enough stash in the freezer so that I can retire the horns a little earlier. Clogged ducts are a total nightmare!

I pumped exclusively 9 mths with enough in the freezer to last DD until 12 mths of age. DD was a preemie and after she came home, I could not deal with latching, pumping andvcaring for baby so I decided to pump exclusively. My supply sucked big time but since she was under Doc orders to receive formula supplement (for extra calories), I somehow managed to make it to 9 mths. Despite being a LVP, I had clogged ducts galore!!!! Pumping was a dreaded chore! I was perfectly fine with myndecision, no issues with bonding and songlad that anyone can help me feed baby. I am expecting again, who knows what my breastfeeding road will be this time around .....

I'm still pumping and my son is 8.5 months old. He was a preemie and spent 101 days in the NICU, so I HAD to pump. Since it's all I know, it's been easy to just keep going.

i stopped breastfeeding completely around 5 months, and exclusively pumped until 9 months. even the first 5 months i pumped way more than i breastfed. charlie's latch was ok, but he's always had swallowing issues and could never remove milk effectively enough. it just ended up being easier for me to pump so i could know exactly how much milk he was getting, i could increase my supply and we had several different caretakers who fed him as well.

i'm definitely going to try harder to breastfeed with baby #2, but i know there are tons of exclusive pumpers out there so you're not alone!

While pregnant I knew I wanted to breastfeed my LO. I've heard some babies who have issues with latching and some women who have problems with supply. I told myself not to blame myself if breastfeeding didn't work out.

My LO never got the hang of breastfeeding, and he spent the first few days figuring out how to suck. After a week he still showed no interest, and to save my sanity, I accepted that he would never get his milk from the source. I decided to exclusively pump and supplement with formula with hopes that my supply would one day meet his demand. It took over a month for that to finally happen, and he has been exclusively drinking breast milk ever since.

Exclusively pumping is a lot of hard work, and there are days when I break down. Pumping is never as efficient as a baby's suck, and I used to have blocked ducts a few times a week. I still pump every 2-3 hours, and I haven't gotten rid of my middle of the night pump.

At first I had no idea that there were other people like me, and I slowly learned of others who had pumped for up to a year. That gave me the encouragement to stay strong. I keep going because my LO means everything to me, and I want to provide him with the very best. I am 2 weeks shy of reaching 6 months.

Are there any exclusive pumpers here? Do you know of a mother who exclusively pumped?
