We don't have cable and no one misses it. I watch programs using Netflix and get my news on NPR. No sports here, so that was never a consideration.

We've never had cable and I don't miss it at all. We have Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon prime. We get HBO and Showtime when there is something we want to watch and then cancel when done with it. I also use the CW app on our Roku to watch Jane the Virgin.

We use Apple TV and have Netflix and Hulu. We’ve been doing that since 2012. We primarily watch those two but we do have access to my in laws xfinity account if we want to watch live tv on the laptop. It’s rare though!
Eta I watch This Is Us on nbc.com!

We also never really had cable. But we just signed up for Direct TV Now. It’s much cheaper. You stream it through their website and can stream it anywhere. They have sports channels, HDTV, food network, Disney junior, etc.

The only thing they don’t have is local tv channels and basic channels like abc and cbs. We don’t usually watch those channels so no biggie except couple of months ago when the hurricanes were heading our way, it would have been watch the local news coverage.

We also have Apple TV. We have amazon prime and can use Netflix but don’t really watch those.

We haven't had cable or TV for a few years and don't miss it too much. Most of what we want to watch is available on YouTube or DVD. We can't really watch shows regularly because there's just no time. We'll probably get something when the kids are older and we have more spare time, but this works for now.

We haven't had cable in like over 5 years or something. We have higher speed Internet, have Netflix and Hulu and Amazon Prime. For sports, we mostly watch hockey, so we got the NHL package and watch it on our AppleTV at home. The only time its been annoying is like the World Series or the Olympics, but we've found ways to get around it, like sports bars or going to a friend, or just watching highlights the next day online in the case of the Olympics. Either way, its not worth the $180 bill we were paying before.

We didn't have TV for like 4 plus years. We have mlb.tv, Netflix and Amazon prime TV right now. And have cable since we got a deal for the first year. We'll go back to no cable TV and either Hulu or YouTube TV in March when our promotion is over.

I have never missed it at all. Except for not knowing what movies are coming out like above said

I just wish I could get rid of having to pay them for internet. We can only use cox and they're awful and expensive

We've been cable free for about a year now or so and it's pretty great. We have the firestick and for some time had the direct now app as well, which was live tv for $35 a month. Cable wasn't worth it for us! I wouldn't go back!

We have been using Playstation Vue for about a year now, and we really like it. We just have the basic package, and it has plenty of channels for us. It also has DVR capability.

We cut the cable cord a year ago. We have Amazon Prime, Netflix, and a digital antenna for local channels. We're not big sports people, so it was easy for us. If your cable/internet was bundled, remember to include the cost of your internet connection into what you would save. Even with the cost of internet we're saving over $100/month.

My parents cut the cable cord in September and use Sling TV because my Dad is a big sports person. They miss their DVR, but otherwise are pleased with the switch and are still saving a significant amount.

@Raspberry: I was just having a conversation with someone earlier this week that I never know what movies are out because I don't ever see commercials :silly:

We cancelled cable a few years ago with the intention of signing back on but never missed it. We use Netflix, Amazon Video and YouTube and subscribe to a separate sports package and find that's all we want (or have time for).

Only downside is I never know what movies are coming out because I don't see trailers anymore. On the flipside, we barely have to watch ads (especially a plus with an impressionable LO).

And using one of the new web-based TV services? Like Youtube TV, Sling TV, etc. We are seriously considering it especially now that you can get broadcast channels, live sports, etc. and I am wondering what the downsides are. It seems like a great deal for $35-40 a month. Our cable is outrageous and we don't even really watch it that much.
