I should also add that I am on bed rest. At first it was just for my high pressure, but the placenta previa caused some major spotting/bleeding.
I have gone into pre-term labor twice already.

I have placenta previa.

A c-section has of course been brought up by my OB, but I am 24 weeks and there is still a chance that it could move as my uterus becomes bigger and stretches.

If your placenta is 1.5 cm away from your cervix, I would say that a vaginal delivery should totally work, as long as it doesn't move at all. I think OB's push C-sections when they are not always necessary. In this case, a C-section is not NECESSARY (IMHO).

@Mrsbells: Apparently this is what happens for most people, but I'm not so lucky.

@c.sassy: This time my doctor told me no more sex. I guess low-lying placenta comes with increased risk of pre-term labor and/or bleeding, so that does it for intimate time w/ hubs for the time being. She also doesn't want me to fly after 32 weeks. I already have a trip across the country for my baby shower booked at 30 weeks, which she is less than psyched about.

Everything I've read says that c-section is not necessarily inevitable, so I'm going to be asking my doctor a lot of questions at my next appointment.

At my 19 week ultrasound my placenta was low lying as well and I was told if it remained this way I would have to go the C-section route, but I had another ultrasound at 22 weeks it had moved to the normal position, I was suprised it had moved that quickly. So yours might still move up to were its supposed to be

I'm interested to see if anyone has anything to say about this. My doctor told me mine was low at the 20 week ultrasound as well, but the follow-up is still about 3 weeks away. Were you given any restrictions?

I'm 29 weeks and have been diagnosed with a low-lying placenta. They first noticed it at my 20-week anatomy scan but were hoping that it would go away. Just had a follow-up ultrasound, and it's still low, but not overlapping the cervix at all, so it's not technically considered to be a placenta previa... just "low-lying". I'm really hoping that I can still have a natural vaginal birth, but my doctor has already floated the possibility of c-section. Her exact words are "there are some schools of thought that say you shouldn't be allowed to labor with this condition." My understanding from the reading I've done is that as long as the placenta doesn't overlap the cervix (mine is currently 1.5 cm away), I have a pretty good chance of having a successful vaginal delivery. Does anyone have any personal experience with this diagnosis?
