@Mrs. Yoyo: we have had to deal with several adventures with antibiotics due to ear infections. Generally L fights it for a day or two and then becomes used to the taste and will cooperate. We just keep reminding her the medicine will make her feel better. We otherwise resort to the syringe/pinning method too.

Good luck!

When I had to give my daughter medicine, before she decided she liked it, I would coat the syringe in brown sugar and she took it no problem. Probably not the best way but at least it wasn't a battle.

@Mrs. Yoyo: I know, I know!

I basically forced a 10 day course of abx on my son, only to find out he had an allergy, so I get it. Now we get zithro, only 5 days, once a day.

Get a syringe if you don't already have it. Put it in the side of his mouth and then blow in their face.

When you blow, it forces them to catch their breath and they swallow. My mother is a freaking rock star with this method.

I'm no help bc when it comes to antibiotics I hold her and force it down.

I have heard applesauce is best to mix medicines in because its sweeter and hides the taste better. But that doesn't always work for us either.

I agree that sometimes pinning them down and giving it to them is better. You fight with them for 5 seconds versus 50 minutes.

I know it sounds horrible but the best way I ever found with G when we didn't want it was to lay him down, pretty much straddle him so his head was between my legs ("sitting" on his arms, etc) and squirting it in his cheek so he couldn't spit it.

I know though.. it sounds horrible! :/

So my LO has some kind of bug bite that became infected overnight. We took him to the pedi this morning and he's now on medicine he has to take twice a day for (UGH) 10 flipping days. At lunch we got probably a little less than half the dose in him by mixing it with milk, but he started making faces and refusing to drink. So the rest of the dose I had to squirt down the back of his throat while pinning him to me, which doesn't always work because sometimes he still manages to spit.

Any tips? It's flavored, but he doesn't seem to care. I would just double-team him, but DH is going out of town tomorrow for a week :-(
