@brownepiano: sweat potataroes, I wonder if my DH would grow some. I love on summer evenings when we spend time in the yard and DS can snack on all the veggies.

This year we are getting a pressure canner so I can do things like beans. Most of my canning has been pickles and tomatoes and last year we did salsa.

I do a big variety but small amounts and we just eat it through the summer. I don't mind canning but I like the variety. I keep getting our carrots, snap peas, lettuce, and spinach out too late because of cold weather. This year I might have DH build me a dome for one of our garden boxes.

For seeds I start tomatoes, basil, peppers, and I think that's it. Outside i have strawberries (one plant for my son who begged to have strawberries), beans, and I might try sweet potatoes this year.

@gotkimchi: I guess I should clarify...we don't start seedlings for corn. Its quick growing so we just pop the seeds bbn in the ground!

Do any of you do canning from your garden? That is my favourite part.

@SweetCaroline: we’ve never had success with pumpkins, so last year we didn’t plant any andcwint again this year. I wish we had luck with them.

@codeitall: seeds are a lot less time consuming to water than the whole garden. My DS loves helping with them and seeing them grow. Plus if you can do it it is so much cheaper than buying the plants.

@SweetCaroline: how do you do your corn? I haven’t done pumpkins since I was a kid but I bet my kids would love that!

@codeitall: so far I’m working on onions. Put garlic in last fall. I’ll probabky do potatoes again. And then just regular stuff - tomatoes, peas, beans, radish

@gotkimchi: me, me!! I used to do seeds, but after DD, just bought plants. I think we might try to do seeds this year now that she is older. We are going to grow grape/cherry tomatoes for the food pantry. I want to teach DD that we can help our friends in need in ways that aren't directly correlated with spending money. We can put time and effort in to help those friends as well.

I think we'll do the matoes in buckets in the backyard. In our actual garden, probably just sweet corn and pumpkins. We had some decent smaller Jack o lanterns last year. Might try o also throw in a giant variety this year.

What else are you planting?

I have a grow light, but we probably won't do seeds. Actually, now that I type it out I really do want to do seeds with the kids!

We'll see, I rely on sprinklers to do my watering, so indoor seeds may be a dud, but worse case scenario I just buy the plants at the greenhouse again.

What seeds are you doing?

I can't even keep a cactus alive  My husband loves gardening though and can't wait until we have a house so we can grow our own food.

I'm a very novice gardener, but I love my hydrangeas and have a raised bed I put a few veggies in every year. Lettuces, herbs, and tomatoes mainly. We eat a lot of those, so it's a money saver!

I was just starting to think about a plan for this year. We have a tiny space for gardening and terrible light but stuff still grows! Last year all my seeds sprouted and then died inside because I didn't have a grow light. So grow light is on the list of things to get before I start!

We were just planning what to grow in our garden this year the other night. I love gardening but I’ll be honest in DH does almost all the work. He starts some seeds in Feb & some in March. They all go outside at the end of May.

Thinking about starting my onions and a few other things  anyone else? Wishing it was spring lol!! I’m also trying to work out a new set up for my seeds. Last year ended with my youngest ripping everything out and grinding the dirt into my carpet. Not great
