Any time anyone asks for book suggestions, I always suggest Tana French's books. They're mysteries/police procedurals (which I normally don't like) set in Ireland. I have torn through all of them.

I second @MamaMoose:'s suggestion of This is Where I Leave You. I simultaneously laughed out loud and cried actual tears at that book.

My go-to recommendation is Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. I have corresponded with the author and he said it's been purchased for a movie so best to read it before it's in theatres! I LOVED it. Favorite book of all time.

I really liked The Orphan Train as @hilsy85: mentioned.

I also just finished This Is Where I Leave You which was was really good. It's coming out at a movie this year and I wanted to read it first.

Defending Jacob is older but I just read it for my book club. Very intense. If you like Law and Order you'll love this book.

Have you read The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly yet? I read it during one 2hr train journey to work (it's really short) and I cried the entire way. I then read it again on the way back!!

I'm currently reading both Ancillary Justice (SF, but it got a good review on a romance blog, so that made me think I could handle it when I'm generally not a huge SF fan) and The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairlyand in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne Valente (middle grade) and both are really good so far!

I just read The Orphan Train (about, literally, a train that brought orphans from NYC out to the midwest to try to get them adopted) and really liked it! I also recently finished The Invention of Wings (about abolitionist Sarah Grimke and the slave she was given on her 11th birthday) and found it really interesting!

I read Wonder a couple of weeks ago. I don't really have a genre and enjoy all good novels.

Any can't put down 'til the end books you've read recently?
