Try Udi's bagels ... I LOVE them. AND, the mixture of bread + cream cheese was really nice when I had food aversions. Other than that, I ate a lot of veggies. I wasn't very sick, but NOTHING sounded good. PB was one of my favorite things ... with apples. Mmmmm!

I don't know your reasons for being GF (celiacs, intolerance, or other) but I have a gluten intolerance and was really nervous about this when I became pregnant. All I wanted was carbs! And oddly enough, I didn't have any symptoms when I broke down and ate bread. In fact, I was fine with it all through my pregnancy. And baby wanted a lot of carbs. I could be a complete anomaly but all symptoms came back a little while after DS was born.

My RE had me go gluten free before doing IVF and I have to stay gluten free through the first trimester. I am currently 8 weeks pregnant. I have been trying to eat smaller meals more frequently during the day so that I don't get hungry - that helps keep the "morning" sickness away. Also, I have some snacks in my desk like Annies gluten free snicker doodle cookies. I will snack on fruit if I need something sweet.

I ate a lot of apples and peanut butter. Still do when I am not feeling well. Works great for me. Also sour candy, but I try to limit my candy intake.

@MrsScottish: good luck TTC! We are gluten free - and my sister is GF and vegetarian and 31 weeks pregnant now. She had morning sickness until about 16 weeks.

Another Udis lover here. I ate a cinnamon raisin bagel almost every day pregnant... Their bread is great (and nut free I believe).

I also ate a lot of cheese and potatoes. I was pretty much a carb lover before but it was intensified while pg.

You can do it! Rice or popcorn cakes with peanut butter, yogurt, cold green grapes, string cheese -- these got me through the worst of it. Also, although I didn't know about them then, Udi's makes really yummy muffins that I love to eat post pregnancy and I bet they'd be good morning sickness food.
Good luck!

I'm a big fan of rice crackers. I have already stocked up on some of my fav flavours because like you, I'm 4 weeks and I have already started feeling changes to my appetite. I'm hardly hungry and I just can't finish a meal. When I do eat, I feel a bit queasy. The idea of having heavy rich food just makes me want to gag. So I have been having fruits and rice crackers throughout the day since they seem to make me feel better. They don't taste like cardboard and come in so many different flavours so you'll never get bored

the brand Food Should Taste Good has really good GF crackers and tortilla chips! they don't taste at all that different from the non-GF kind. They are sold at most major groceries I think, but Costco and Whole Foods for sure.

@mrs. 64: Having Udi's bread in the freezer has been a lifesaver for us. I actually have no idea what it tastes like totally thawed - I've been eating it as avocado toast for protein!

@MrsScottish: I'm GF and ttc. I'm a little nervous about being GF and morning sickness, especially since my mom had hyperemesis gravidarum. For GF specific foods, I plan on loading up on Udi's bread for one. I also think Wellaby's Classic Cheese Crackers are good and taste more like a regular cracker than most GF crackers. Even though they are cheese flavor they are also pretty bland, so hopefully that will help. Other than that I'm just going to see what I feel like when the time comes.

@MrsScottish: We're a nut and gluten free home (I have a nut allergy and DH is gluten free) and I've been eating a lot of fresh fruit, dried mangoes, cheese when I can tolerate it, olives, and hard boiled eggs. Carb-y things actually made me crash faster and get nauseated more quickly!

I am resurrecting this thread. I was diagnosed with a gluten allergy ( along with childhood nut allergy and vegetarian) in May. I have had 2 people now look at me with pity when I say that we are TTC and being nut and gluten free!! It is starting to scare me!! I eat gluten free crackers, gf bread etc, am I as screwed as they make me feel?!?

I'm not pregnant but can help a little with gf stuff - I love nut thins - they have them at most grocery stores. They look like rice crackers but taste a whole lot better! For other bread products, have you tried udis? I think their products are delicious and I know I always crave bagels when I'm feeling sick. And I agree that most gf products are disgusting! Hope you feel better!

DH and I are gluten free, and I eat relatively few carbs throughout the day. The carbs I do eat are mainly from fruits and veggies, and I'm already concerned with what to do when morning sickness hits. I'm only 4-ish weeks along and I swear I've felt some little bouts of nausea already :-/

I keep reading that crackers and dry bread really help, but that's not really an option for me unless I can find some GF ones (which I usually really dislike the taste of).

Any recommendations or GF crackers that don't taste like cardboard?!
