i had it and my recovery went really well! the first 3 days (not counting the surgery day because i just slept that whole day) were the toughest, but still each one was better than the day before. i never had that shoulder pain or not much of it that i remember anyway. i also slept ok on my back and within 2 weeks, i was back to sleeping on my stomach.

my LO was about 15 months when I had the surgery and it was tough because he still wanted to be picked up and when I did pick him up, every wiggle felt like he was kicking my incisions. so having to manage with him was definitely the hardest part. luckily i had my mom come stay with me for a week though.

i hope you have a speedy recovery!

Not the same, but I've had an appendectomy and a partial colectomy - both were laparoscopic and within 2 weeks of each other. Luckily I didn't have the referred pain mentioned above. Recovering from the appendectomy was pretty easy and the incisions healed within a week, but the hemicolectomy took much longer.

My best recommendations are to get up and walk around for short periods of time a few times a day, and to stay on top of your pain meds. Not managing your pain properly can delay recovery. I did find that extra strength Tylenol did nothing for me and requested a prescription for narcotics (and I typically have a high pain threshold).

Sending you lots of healing vibes!

The first week will be terrible. I had mine out when my daughter was 5 months old, and I don't know what I would have done if my husband didn't have time off to help me.

You will have excruciating shoulder pain for a few days (referred pain from the gas they use to fill up your stomach for visibilty), and sleeping will be torture. But, once the shoulder pain leaves, you'll just be sore for a while until the stitches heal. I was super bloated for a couple weeks, and had a hard time getting in and out of bed. The incision in your belly button will be the one that hurts the most.

Rely heavily on fluids, and rest rest rest. I had a baby to take care of, so I couldn't rest as much as I would have liked, but take any chance you get to sit down.

I had my gallbladder removed yesterday. I had the laparoscopic procedure done, and everything seems to have gone okay. For those of you who had it done, when will I likely start feeling better? I hear day 2 is always the worst ... I am just so sore. Trying to walk around a bit, and managing pain with extra strength tylenol.
