We have the Karlstad love seat w chaise attached and LOVE it. It has held up sooo well and has broken in really well. The only thing we dont particularly like are the feet. We found replacement feet, but didnt want to pay for so many. We love our couch!!

I have a Karlstad sectional and love it! I bought the dark grey cover that can be machine washed. Seemed the most practical with a baby. The thing I didn't like about the Ektorp was the seat depth. I'm tall so I felt like I half my thigh was hanging off the couch when I sat in it at the store.

I really like ours. It's comfy and I love that I can easily replace the slipcover if I need to.

We've had the Karlstad for over a year and love it. The slip covers are so useful. LO has thrown up on the couch and even scribbled all over the ottoman with a crayon. I just took off the slip cover and threw it in the wash. It's great not having to worry so much about stains.

We have an IKEA Klippan leather loveseat that we inherited from my Dad (It's been with us for 2 years and 3 moves now, no idea how long my Dad had it), and I've been really surprised with how much I love it! The leather has been extremely durable, it's insanely comfy, and it's just so cute! I plan on going back and buying another one as soon as our other (newer, more expensive couch that is not nearly as comfy) dies.

All that to say, I've been really pleased with the IKEA couch quality/comfiness. I think they'd be perfect for a basement chillax couch :)

My sister has an Ikea couch (the kind with the different slip covers you can use) and it looks great and has held up nicely, but that thing is hard as a rock and has been since day 1...She has had it for about five years now.

@zippylef: We just recently bought a massive Karlstad for our living room. We absolutely love it so far--the only thing I wish I would have considered a little more (and this is just more so the actual couch design and nothing against IKEA at all) is the fact that the back cushions are lower.

we're on our 2nd version of the ektorp sofa bed! the first one lasted 5 years but we threw it out when we had bed bugs last summer, so it probably could have lasted longer. the sofa bed is surprisingly comfortable for a pull out!

I had an ektorp sofa bed and I really liked it. It was heavy to move with the pullout couch part but the seats were very comfy and big enough for three adults across. No complaints at all except that I couldn't take it when I moved - my next apt was TINY.

We just bought at ektorp for the cottage - since it's at the beach we didn't want to spend $$$$ but DH set it up last week and it is gorgeous!! It hasn't been tested to a summer of family bbqs yet but so far it is super comfy and I am really impressed!!

We dont have that model, but we have Karlstads in our living room. We've had it for 2 years and its taken quite a bit of abuse and it holding up well.

We have an ikea couch in our basement. It was our main couch while we were living out of the states for 2 years. It's survived several moves including an international one back to the states. The cushions have stayed pretty firm too. It's been 5 years now since we bought it. I don't remember which one we got.

@skibobrown: So true. I'm considering them for the same reason. Our basement is our family room, so I'm sure they will get a ton of abuse. But, because it's out of sight, they don't have to stay in great condition.

Not yet, but we're considering Ikea couches for our living room b/c they have easily replaceable covers. Given that I'm sure DD will spill all kinds of stuff on our couches over the next few years, I don't want to drop a ton of money on a piece of furniture that is going to get trashed.

We need another couch for the basement, and I am considering an Ikea Ektorp. Does anyone have one and love it? Hate it? It's just for the basement, so I really don't want to spend much on it.
