I find this so interesting! I've also struggled with an eating disorder for a long time, so any sort of structured eating plan is generally a bad idea for me. I'm "in recovery", but I guess it is similar to an alcoholic who gets sober in that you're never really cured. This is something that I'll have to look more into.

Thanks ladies! I think the point is that it seems like a lot of work because it is a huge departure from how people typically eat but should become pretty routine after time. Many people eat like this naturally, and I do in waves, but when I am stressed, I have noticed I veer back toward my ED tendencies (though still in check.)

My sister is working on intuitive eating- she is in recovery after ED, and her counsellors teach on this topic a lot. I think it could be a great way to approach eating!

Reading about the principles, it sounds like my approach towards food even though I think I live this more innately rather than deliberately.

I am a RD and this is what I educate my clients, or try to :) I do eat this way, I feel I tend to eat less when I eat when I am truly craving - I eat slow, listen to my body and recognize when I am full. I, too, had disordered eating at one point, so it was difficult to get to this point. I am actually now eating more of a plant based diet, so now my intuitive eating is geared more towards certain foods only.

I did some mindful eating in one of my counseling classes. It honestly seemed like too much work. It did make sense to me and I could definitely see the benefit.

I have known about intuitive eating for several years, have read many books on the subject but have never really taken the plunge. I would really love to see if there are any other Bees out there who have adopted this lifestyle or have wanted to but haven't had the final push to do so.
For those curious, IE is all about hunger based eating, decoding "fat thoughts," abandoning our society's views on diets/body image and creating a peaceful relationship with food all while getting to a healthy weight. I am not saying anything bad against anyone else's eating or dieting habits but as a person with a history with an eating disorder, I have to tread lightly with these things.

Anyway, anyone?
