Mine wasn't a preemie but I think it took around 9-10 weeks for me to be sure it was a social smile and not just reflex or something. I was really worried cuz doc said he should be smiling. Now at almost four months, he smiles so much and laughs so cute.

Mine was a preemie and has always been very serious! We didn't get frequent smiles until over 5m actually! It'll come eventually and it will be awesome :)

Lo didn't start smiling until around then either, and it was still rare for awhile after. She was more observant and serious! Now at 8.5 months she smiles alllll the time though laughs more rarely still

LO is 10 weeks (4.5 weeks adjusted) and hasn't given any social smiles yet. I know so many 6 - 8 week babies who have already started smiling and I can't wait for this to happen! But since he was a preemie, I know I have to give him some extra time... did you have a late-smiler, and when did they first start?
