@Eko: too bad we are due the same month, so I can't pick your brain about the car seat ;) lol. We are torn between the rogue and the jeep Cherokee. I didn't know the rogue can't be upgraded to a 6 cylinder so I've been concerned about the pickup. I'm like you where it's not practical to get a Tahoe sized vehicle for where we live. Snow and ice driving are big concerns for us. We have an accord now, and are going to test drive them this month!

@CakeLady: we looked at the rogue a few weeks ago! We were between the rogue and the Mazda cx5 touring. We decided on the Mazda. I've had it for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. Granted, I drove a mini before so this thing is like a tank to me. It has plenty of space, smooth ride and lots of safety features - rear view cam, lane assist, etc. Love!!!

@CakeLady: I also would add that DH says the cleaning is fine, but his only complaint about the car is that the defroster does not work as well as it can. It's not that ours is damaged it's just not wide enough to defrost our side windows when they need to. I don't know if that problem is specific to the make, model, etc. as this is the first Nissan and mid size car we've had.

@CakeLady: Yep. I just had a major maintenance service on it today. I've never had a problem with it at all. The only thing that's needed changed was the oil and the air filter. My MIL's is a 2010 and her experience is similar in that she's only done the standard maintenance on it. I think it's probably cheaper to get the maintenance done someplace other than the dealership. It's usually $250 (give or take) for the standard yearly maintenance at the dealership with everything they recommend. But the maintenance so far has been cheaper than my last car, which was a Honda Accord. I really love the back up camera and the ipod hook up in mine. They weren't standard in 2012, but it's something I'd definitely recommend. The only thing I don't like about it is the interior color, which, honestly, isn't that big of a deal.

We also considered the Mazda CX5. I actually test drove one the first day it was out. I was pretty awesome, but it was $5000 more expensive than the Rogue for similar options.

I drove one for a day last week and really liked it. It was spacious, had a good pickup, and didn't feel huge like most SUV's. I didn't have any baby items in it since I was going to/from the hospital, but my friend also drives one and likes it.

@CakeLady: we bought a 2011 over the summer and love it. It works really well in the snow and has good pick up for a 4 cylinder. We have not yet put baby gear in it yet, but it will be fine for us. Having a larger car than a rogue is actually not practical for where we live.

We looked at the Nissan Rogue last year! We were driving an old crv at the time, and it was pretty much on its last legs. I really liked the rogue a lot. We also looked at the Ford Escape. He ultimately decided the Mazda cx5 touring was what he wanted, and I really love it. I would have been super happy with the Nissan, too, though.

I have a 2012 Rogue. I love it, and have no complaints. I get an average of 24 mpg. No experience hauling kids or carseats, but my MIL also has one and hauls her grandchildren in it regularly. What specifically do you want to know?

I had a rogue and liked it a lot. But I found it (and all of the small SUVs) to be too cramped with car seats so we ended up getting a full size SUV.

I have a 2010 and it's been great. No problems at all. The trunk space is a little small, but I also keep our stroller back there, so it doesn't leave us much room.

We need to get a second car, we have a Prius now and are thinking we'd like a little more space. After some preliminary investigation today we liked the Nissan Rogue. Other options on the table are Honda CRV (not so comfy?) or the Homda Crosstour (kinda expensive?). We are planning to buy used.

Would love to hear thoughts about the Rogue or other crossovers/small SUVs/wagons!
