We added the wall mount light so she can close the curtain and turn on the light and read our play. We have some blankets and quiet toys in the shelf buckets too. She has a good 4-5 inches of wall around her bed because we chose a thinner ikea mattress. We switched DD at 2.5yo to the loft version of the bed and put a reading book with book shelves, her anywhere chair and a tension rod with curtain. We positioned it so the ladder is against the wall and got a Trofast step storage system to put at one end of the bed as steps up. It's worked out great!
