When the time comes, we'll probably make it into a weekend trip so there's a hotel stay on top of the transportation and application fees to pay for.</p> <p>Plus, I'm a naturalized citizen and my mom can't find my naturalization certificate! I still need to get a copy of my high school transcripts as well (unless college transcripts are good enough). We're bypassing the base (we're stationed overseas with the USAF) and going through the embassy because we've heard so many horror stories about how long it takes to get everything back if you let the base send it. </p> <p>We're doing it the first week of July and I want to fly home in September, so I was just hoping I would have LO's passport by then. Yay! The process was pretty easy. We received her passport and certificate of birth abroad in a few weeks. It wasn't a pain at all. If my memory serves me correctly, we got the birth abroad certificate and passport within a few days.
