My LO does almost the exact same thing! She turned 1 a week and a half ago and always wants to try whatever we are eating but when it comes to 'her' food she is kind of finicky about what chunky food she will eat. Toast, crackers, cheese, banana, halved chickpeas, Mac n cheese, spaghetti she loves but spits out peaches, cut blueberries, peas, strawberries, orzo, pineapple. I don't get it! And I never know what to try and feed her. Half the time she gets purée or something I know she will eat as back up!

Sorry I don't have any words of wisdom but it's nice to be able to commiserate!!

@edelweiss: she spits out grapes, mangos, soft apples, avacado. She used to eat rice, but I offered her some today.. she refused! Ugh!

i don't have experience with this because LO is still on purees, but i'm curious about other people's feedback. will she eat chunky fruits besides oranges, mandarins and bananas?

for what it's worth, considering my complete lack of knowledge, it sounds like you're doing the right thing--continuing to offer while also giving her purees. i'm sure she will take to the veggies soon and be gobbling them down!

@yellowbird: P had always been on the low end up the %... born under 3% and JUST got over 5% at 15 mths (was 5.5 at 12 mths). We still nurse often too.

As long as P is acting normal & hitting milestones I don't worry about %.. some babes are just petite. :)

@runsyellowlites: I definitely think it's a texture thing. I just worry because she is already at the low end weight wise. I don't want her to starve to death! If she was hungry, she would eat though, right?!?!

Could just be a texture preference. I wouldn't worry about it. P is 16.5 mths & is just getting to where she really likes to eat. :)

My LO will be 12 months on Sunday. We have been giving her chunky food to pick up since around 7 months. She will happily eat cheerios, puffs, , noodles mandarin oranges and bananas but thats it. She will pick up ANYTHING and put it in her mouth, but she immediately spits out all veggies and meats. I make sure they are soft enough. I've tried making them softer, harder, smaller, larger. She won't! She will still eat pureed veggies and she will eat ground meat if we hide it in a pasta dish with noodles and sauce.

Is this normal? I thought she would be off purees by now, but it's the only way she eats any veggies. :(
