My son had chordee and a slight hypospadias - the urologist ultimately decided to correct the chordee but not the (very mild) hypospadias. The surgery and recovery were about as well as can be expected - it was tough bringing him into the OR and he cried a lot when he woke up and spent most of the rest of the day sleeping. We had a tough time removing the dressing on day three but finally managed to soak it off. And he's good as new now! It's so scary as a parent, but it's a really routine surgery for a pediatric urologist. Wishing you good luck!

@Shantuck: Thanks! My son's is Chordee as well. We were told to expect him to be extra fussy while he had the catheter in. Something I'm not looking forward to, but I'll be happy when everything is fixed.

@auggiefrog: My son has hypospadias but didn't require surgery. I do have two friends whose children had to have surgery for a chordee (one of whom is a pediatrician). They were both nervous about going under with anesthesia but both kids did great. My nephew also had a hernia surgery at 18 months and I know my sister said it was a rough few days of recovery (poor sleep, grumpy, etc) but the anticipation was the worst part. Sorry I'm not more help. Hope everything goes smoothly!

My son was diagnosed with hypospadias? My son's is more severe, needing two surgeries. He will get his first at the end of the month to straighten his penis, and his second at about a year to move the urethra.

I wanted to see if anyone else had experience with this, and could tell me about their experiences with the surgical aftercare.
