@Corduroy: I don't do it regularly. It was a bit of a pain especially when she was smaller. I started doing it because I would leak on the side she wasn't nursing and didn't want to waste it. It's easier now (she's almost 8 months). She finds it fascinating but she's a bit grabby. I don't do it regularly because she always wants to switch back and forth. I'm glad you got a bit more.

It really is amazing what mamas are willing to do!

@katsupgirl: I tried simultaneous nursing and pumping. What a PITA. I'm continually amazed by the things mamas will do for their babies. Do you do that regularly?

LO nurses better when I lean back because I have a fast flow. But leaning back doesn't work so well for pumping (nipple in a big puddle of milk, milk spraying everywhere at the slightest loss of suction). DH was pretty entertained watching me try to contort into different positions. I check previous threads for tips. I couldn't have done it the most efficient way. I did get a couple more mls than usual.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep working at it.

@MusicaV: I'm totally lopsided. I'd guess a nearly A and a C or D. I was ok with it but now that I'm starting to gather my pp work wardrobe I see I'm going to need to do something to balance myself out.

I know a mom IRL whose LO only wanted to nurse from one side. She tried offering it first, then power pumping to try to increase the supply. In the end she decided to just feed from the one side and be "lopsided." She's a SAHM, so she didn't have to address pumping at work.

@katsupgirl: I have about 60oz in my stash. I haven't tried pumping while nursing. I'll try that at my next feed.

@Corduroy: I meant pumped the left while she nursed on the right. Sometimes I get more because the baby triggers a better letdown than the pump. Do you have a freezer stash?

@katsupgirl: I usually get an ounce from the right per session but I don't pump it regularly now. LO won't take a bottle so I don't know how much I would get if she skipped a nursing session. I assume/hope more.

How much do get from the right when pumping? Would you get more from the left if you pumped while LO nursed?

I'd love to hear experiences from mamas that feed exclusively on one breast.

My LO has decided about two weeks ago that she will only take my right breast (not my left, no bottle, no paci). The left nipple is inverted so she's never liked feeding on that side. It's painful for me if she feeds on it multiple times per day so I've always had trouble encouraging her to feed on it consistently. I've been pumping the left three times a day and get about 3/4 of an ounce in a 24 hour period. Not much.

LO is 3 months and I will be going back to work in one month. I'd like to BF for a year if possible. I'm trying to decide if I should let that breast dry, keep pumping 3x a day, or try to increase with power pumping/herbal methods.

When I go back to work I'll definitely be pumping the right breast - is two just as easy as one? Will I be really happy to have that tiny extra amount?

I've already had one clogged duct in the low producer. If I get another I think I'll throw in the towel. Bad idea?

Feel free to share any other one sided stories, tips, or questions!
