My husband and I have already discussed this and agree on this. (I'm more against it than him, but he is too) Way too dangerous. My plan is to encourage soccer and baseball when he is younger and hopefully he likes them or other sports so that he doesn't have an interest in trying football. I'd really rather he not play it as he gets older though. I'm also not a huge fan of hockey - I don't like the fighting in professional. I feel like it's unsportsman-like conduct. </p> <p>We plan to start him out in soccer and t-ball when he's old enough, and maybe swimming. He can stick with what he likes or try something new. Hockey more because of the time and expense.</p> <p>I was a swimmer, and I think that's a great sport. Gymnastics might be nice, too, but with her genes she'd probably be too tall to do it at a high level later on. Any sport in which I find that to be the case. As a gymnastics and Crossfit coach I am very very very extremely picky about the programs he does. Same with boxing. I wouldn't be thrilled with hockey either. I think anything else would be fair game. </p> <p>We will strongly encourage participation in at least one sport up through high school. I think it adds a different level of dedication and teaches teamwork, as well as keeping kids active, which can set them up for a healthy lifestyle.
