MrBee brought up a good point, but rather than feeding sweet potato at the beginning of each meal I'd think about creating different blends (sweet potato mixed with something else) that way she still gets the sweet potato she likes and something else that you want her to have. My daughter does about 4-5oz each feeding and then about 7-8 at her bottle before bed. She's also gets about 4oz at about 430am on days that she doesn't sleep through the night, which seem to be more frequent since the joy of teething started.

@laneybugsmommy: that's pretty much the same schedule my daughter is on, but she will drink only 3-4 oz each time if that much. How much does your daughter drink each feeding?

If she's eating sweet potato, I'd feed sweet potato to her at the start of every meal!

I've noticed that once Charlie eats a little, he is much more open to eating more. So for him at least, the key has been to get him over his initial reluctance to start eating!

Also, he eats solids much better when he's distracted playing with a toy, or if he's hanging out with another kid who is a big eater!

@anewme: Try feeding her milk before giving her solids. At this point nutrition still comes mainly from formula or breast milk so it is more important to get those feedings in. My daughter does bottles every 3 hours or so during the day and solids twice a day right now. She gets a bottle at 9, a bottle at 12, food around 1, a bottle around 330, a little more bottle at about 6, one more feeding of solids between 630 and 7 then a night time bottle close to 9.

My daughter is almost 7 months and we started her with little bit of solids starting at 4.5 months. Now she can eat up to a jar of baby food at a feeding. My problem now is that I can't get her to drink more milk. They still recommend 26-28oz of milk a day, but I think she's a little under. Probably 20-24 oz a day. Any idea how to get her to get adequate milk, should I actualy cut down on her solids?

Try not pureeing it so fine. My daughter only likes food that is a little chunky. For fruits I bake or steam the fruit and then just mush it with a fork or my fingers and give it to her like that. If I puree food I make it a little chunkier and she seems to like that. She definitely does not like the very thin puree consistency. Also maybe try not mixing it with the breast-milk, it may make it too filling for her. Instead just use a little bit of water and see what happens.

My LO's been eating solids for about a month now, but I can't get her to eat more than an ounce of food. Usually she'll eat 3-5 baby spoonfuls and she's done.

I've made her organic butternut squash, sweet potato, apples, pears, avocados, carrots, bananas (all mixed with breast milk and pureed)
She hates cereal unless I mix it with something.

She seems to like sweet potato best, but I don't want to just feed her sweet potato all the time.

Is it bad to feed a 6+ month old mostly breast milk?
I eat EVERYTHING and it would kill me to have a picky eater child.

Any tips/advice?
