Make sure you pack a spare outfit in the diaper bag/carry-on!

Bottle/breast/paci at takeoff and landing.

In warmer weather I still put socks on LO to protect her feet from sunburn. I just dress her in lighter clothing and light colors.

Hat and sunglasses for you? For LO?

Light swaddle blankets (like A&A ones) make for great sunshades for a LO when you are wearing/carrying them.
I would definitely check the weather report too – it will be warmer than Boston for sure, but FL can still be relatively chilly this time of year. Have fun!

Totally agree with @Foodnerd81 re: footed sleeper for the flight and the "clutch" (a gallon zip-lock bag even works) with diapers and wipes (in a smaller, separate ziplock) for the flight.

I flew with C when she was about 5 months old. We put her in a footed sleeper for the flights, so we didn't have to worry about losing socks, taking pants off for diaper changes, or anything. I had my diaper bag packed up but also had a separate diaper 'clutch' with just a couple of diapers, wipes, changing pad, and burp cloth, to make it easier to grab and bring to the bathroom for changes. Then there were extra diapers plus favorite toys and a change of clothes (for C and a clean nursing tank for me!) in the diaper bag.

C loves comfort nursing, so I brought a nursing cover and travel boppy and I nursed her a lot on the flight.

Oh and we packed two suitcases-- one big one for me and C (hint- weigh it before leaving for the airport, I would have gone over!) and a carry on size for DH. He gate checked the carry on one so we wouldn't have to pay to check it. We also had the car seat and snap and go base. Practice folding it and putting it in whatever bag you are using at home And allow extra time at the airport!

Oh and if you are traveling with milk or formula, you can bring it through security just alert the agent when you are in line, they will just swipe those explosive detector pads over it. You can carry LO through security, or keep her in a carrier and they will swipe your hands after you go through.

Good luck! I bet it will be easier than you think.

I did the outfit a day in a ziploc thing at that age, and it was really helpful to be able to grab and go. I also order diapers and wipes to be shipped to our destination.

I would keep socks/dress him warm for the flight since airplanes can get a bit chilly.

Keep diapers and wipes handy at all times is helpful especially during the flight or when you're deboarding and need a quick diaper change.

Having a burpy cloth nearby is also good for catching drool, spits up, and boogers. Can be a good "toy" if your LO is into it (DS likes to put his burpy cloth in his mouth and suck/chew on it).

@ShootingStar: I do ziplocks as well...I had the plan to do a ziplock bag with an outfit per day of vacation, but I ended up not going that route.

I actually buy a box of ziplocks to take with us on vacation, they are super useful for organizing your day bag, esp. if you are going to a place where they do a bag search.

@looch: Ooh, interesting idea. Might be too late for this trip, but maybe I can DIY with some gallon ziplocks for DS's stuff.

Packing cubes! I try to bring just one suitcase for the three of us, and the only way it works is if I pack strategically. I also never travel with toiletries, unless they're brand specific or prescription, so that saves space.

DH, DS and I are heading to FL on Saturday for a week of vacation with my parents. I'm so excited to get out of this awful Boston weather! But it will be our first plane trip with DS (4 months) so I'm a little nervous.

Any tips for making travel or packing easier? I'm still trying to figure out what to do with all his stuff and whose suitcase to put it into.

And stupid question - if it's warm (70+) do I skip putting socks on him? I've only had to worry about dressing him in really cold weather.
