Not a veteran of diaper rashes on girls, but Wagon Jr. got them all the time. The key is to keep it DRY all the time. If you can't go diaperless then get it bone dry then slather on a thick layer of cream. The less greasy the cream, the better-- so the regular desitin instead of "creamy" kind. If it's yeasty you can use clotrimazole (generic Lotrimin). That usually cleared up a yeasty rash for us within a day or two.

I used to keep a paper fan by my changing table to make sure DD was absolutely dry before we put a diaper back on. We never used much desitin bc we mostly did cloth, but when she did develop a rash we used California baby diaper cream. Are you sure it's not a yeast infection? I didn't know about them until I took her in for a wellness checkup. They prescribed a medicated cream. Without it the yeast infection never would have went away.

The overnight Desitin is my go to.
Wipe, air dry and add a thick layer of that and then put the diaper back on. Change more frequently to avoid any time for moisture to collect.

Willa has one right now too and it is only on her potty, not bum (like your LO's). Following this!

DD rarely got diaper rash but when she did it was bad (i.e. bleeding). We ended up switching diaper brands and it cleared up pretty quickly (went from Huggies to Pampers). Before switching diapers we found relief with a product called Resinol (recommended by a friend who used it on their pedi recommendation); it isn't prescription but is kept behind the pharmacy counter.

My LO gets that often when she is wet for a while (she sleeps on her belly).

Some diaper creams actually add moisture so that may not be the best thing. After each diaper change, I would wipe her, and then let her air dry and even sometimes use a tissue to make sure she was really dry before putting the diaper back on.

LO has her first diaper rash at 8 months of age. The rash is mostly on her vagina which I have been putting a healthy layer of maximum strength desitin on. I also let her go diaper free for a bit. I also have a fungal cream my sister gave me but havent applied yet. Any veterans have any tips?
