thanks for sharing - LO is only 8 months, but his pinky toes do this (both of them, but one is worse). He's not walking yet, but his daycare teachers were concerned it might be an issue when we get to that point.

Update: Had surgery today, went well. Surgery was only about 60-90 minutes, and then we just had to wait for her to finish waking up. We left the hospital around 1:15, were home around 2, and she was walking around the livingroom in her socks by 3. I'll add more of an update later on, but wanted to let you all know. @Worrywart: @knittylady: @Orchid: @Ra:

@Ra: Looks similar, but affecting his 3rd toe.

@MamaG: @Grace: Since it's affecting how she walks and she tells us it hurts, we are going to have it treated. Glad to hear that not everybody needs to though!

@MaisyMay: Hmm...I can't tell if Brady has the same thing. His look more jumbled. I'll have to ask our pediatrician next appointment. He brought it up about a year ago but said he'd just keep an eye on it.

@MaisyMay: My toes are like this too! I never had surgery, my pediatrician always said to leave them be unless I was bothered. So here I am at 40 with curly toes.

@MaisyMay: I have toes like this! I never knew there was a surgery for that. Huh. But mine never hurt me (unless the nail from the one gets long enough to cut into the other toe), so maybe that's why I didn't need to have them fixed.

@Ra: @Orchid: @knittylady: @Worrywart: This is her left foot from two angles. She isn't putting any pressure or weight on it in the pics so it isn't as bad as when walking or standing.

@Ra: I will post a pic when we get home.

@Worrywart: It didn't start bothering her until nearly 2, but now you can see her compensate when she runs.

I think we will have to deal with this as well. We went to an orthopedic surgeon right after she turned 1 and they said as long as it's not bothering her and she's walking fine, then it's not urgent. She's now 2 1/2 and walks/runs around just fine. We would only do it for cosmetic reasons. I would love to hear about your appointment and if you go through with the surgery. Good luck!

@MaisyMay: Do you mind posting a picture? I think my son has what you are describing (on both feet) and it doesn't seem to be correcting itself. I've been wondering what the next steps would be.

I think we may have to deal with this. We've just been watching it for now, but will bring it up at our LO's 15 month visit to the pediatrician. From what I read, the recovery is not too bad at all.

Any mom here have to deal with Curly Toe surgery? My LO is 2 years, 3 months, and her 4th toe folds under her third on her left foot, and the pinky toe has shifted over to accommodate. We will be having the surgery in May to correct this, and her pre-op appt is at the end of this month. Some people opt to wait and see if it self-corrects, but LO has been saying it hurts and doesn't want us to touch it, so it's time to get it fixed.

I was just wondering if anybody else has been through this and what the experience was like. I've not been able to read much about the recovery time, and only really found one blog that discussed it. She will have to be completely out for the surgery which is supposed to be brief.
