@Greenthumb,

Just seeing this I've been off here a while. I'm sorry about the possible blocked right tube. I had issues with my left tube which is what I think caused the pain I had. We will be doing IUI with Clomid, injectible Gonal-F and a trigger shot. They are trying to get more than one follicle for better chances.

Well, that wasn't fun! I just had my HSG and it was quite possibly the worst pain I've ever been in - and I've dislocated my shoulder TWICE! I almost passed out from the pain. And the bad news is I MAY have a blocked right tube. Huge bummer. They did the test twice and could not see the dye spill out of the right side, so I'm not exactly sure where we go from here. I'll have a discussion with my own GYN when he is back in town next week. Definitely feeling crappy... hope the news from DH's SA is better.

It is onto the HSG for me and the SA for DH. He dropped off his swimmers at the clinic this morning, so we'll know more about that in 10 days or so. And I'm scheduled for my procedure on Monday. I'm not exactly looking forward to it, but glad we are taking the steps to figure out if there is anything going on that we need to work through or if it is just going to take us some more time. Wish us luck!

@kayakgirl73: Thanks so much. If we don't get a BFP this time around, I'll probably be heading in for the HSG in about 2 weeks. I know it's a necessary part of the process and it is so good that you get a lot of information right away. I hope things go well for you with your next steps!

Mrs. VW,

Let you clinic staff know if you're worried. I let mine know and they walked me though the procedure explaining things before and making sure I was doing alright.

GreenThumb,

I hope you get PG without needing the HSG. If you do need it, remember some folks have no pain. I did have bad pain, but it was over quickly. I had some issues that may have caused mine to be worse. My clinic's staff were great about the whole procedure.

I just had a visit with my GYN and he recommended that I have an HSG. I'm hopeful that mine is low on the pain factor! I'm at 7 DPO now, so maybe this will be our lucky month and I'll get to skip the HSG!

mine was SO painful. i felt like someone stuck a knife up there and was twisting it. afterwards, i was fine though. i did get pregnant that month (i think i o'd like the same day or within 2 days after the hsg - but lost it).... luckily, my husband came with me and drove me home. i don't think they would have let me drive myself home.

My husband is a radiologist and usually does a few HSGs a day. He says some woman don't seem to feel any pain while others can barely handle the pain. It sounds pretty uncomfortable to me. You can definitely bring somebody with you, but you'll be able to drive yourself home.

It was pretty dang uncomfortable but it was over really quickly. You will get stabby intense period cramps during the procedure. Thankfully, the pain ended as soon as the procedure stopped. I took longer filling out the paperwork than the procedure! They kept the speculum in the entire time, but it did not take much longer than a regular pap.

I had an HSG as part of my fertility workup and ended up pregnant 2 months later :) They kept saying that the procedure is often a treatment as well as diagnostic.

Was it very painful? Did they keep the Speculum in the whole time. Did you bring someone with you? Can you drive yourself home?
