@tororojo: Yep, it's the clear one! I don't like waiting until the end of the cycle because then I get confused with our budget, so it works easier for me to pay the week's charges off each week. But yeah, it's super confusing. Right now I can't even pay through the site when there's "not a payment due," so I've been sending it all through my bank. I think I read that's a temporary security measure though.

@travelingbrit: I'm anal and paranoid!

You definitely do get points even if you pay in full every month, I've had that card for 8 years now and never carried a balance, but get tons of cash back.

I have one (is that the clear card? I'm too lazy to check my wallet but I know it's blue and clear). It takes an additional billing cycle for the points to go through, I believe. Like for stuff I charged before Sept. 20 (the end of my billing cycle), even through I paid that bill at the end of September, I won't get to use the points until Oct. 20 or so when the next cycle ends.

I do hate how they make it confusing to pay off your balance before the end of the billing cycle, whereas other cards give you the option right away. You can pay it off early but I think it shows up as a credit until the cycle ends. The points should still go through either way. I just wait until the cycle ends to pay mine because I think it's easier with Amex, and as long as you pay before the due date you won't incur interest.

I think I just answered my own question on #2 just by matching up my pending points to what I know I charged/paid off this month. But anyway :)

I have a couple of questions and I'd rather not call them just to sit on hold. I got my AmEx Blue rewards card in September and have now been through a billing cycle but still have no points attributed to my account.

1. How long did it take for points on your charges to apply to your account? Was there an initial delay after signing up and then a standard "processing" time? Or did it pretty much just always take forever?
2. If I charge something then pay it off right away, do I still earn points? Or do I just get points on the $ amount that sits on my account at the time that I get my monthly statement (really hoping this isn't the case since the only time I really charge is for points and never intend to carry a balance)? Hope that question makes sense.

I'm new to rewards cards, can you tell?
