@bees_knees: I was hoping that would work, but I seem to be having a lot of random CM. I think b/c of breastfeeding it's all out of wack, and my body gears up to OV and then it doesn't happen.

@periwinklebee: so far, my kids have basically weaned themselves (and they were both all about breastfeeding!) while I was pregnant. It was sad (for me!), but it made it easier that they did it on their own terms.

As far as TTC with wonky cycles...could you just pay attention to CM? And when you see fertile CM, take an OPK (or if you're feeling ambitious that day, DTD?) Seems like the easiest, lowest key, most laid back approach, IMO

Thanks everyone, so helpful! I am super excited about this, and also half expecting that by the time I have another baby, daycare will stick a wearable on it that calls me to come pick up as soon as the temperature hits the cutoff, lol...

@Sams Mom: Hah, I totally get TTC crazy pants. I'm a recovering addict from past POAS threads :silly: This is super helpful! I had not heard about Tempdrop, this sounds awesome! I was religious about temping last time, but that doesn't work anymore with my erratic sleeper toddler. So this sounds amazing!

@skinnycow: Ugh that doesn't sound great, along with the battery issue (in expectation, this is probably going to take awhile) that @MamaBear87: mentions.

@Kaohinani: This sounds amazing! Thank you! I will wall you.

@JJ2626: I'm AMA, and #1 took sufficiently long, that I figure if I want another I need to start now. And I do love the idea of kids close in age, but honestly IDK how I'll cope if it does happen. Hoping it's the sort of thing you figure out!

@bees_knees: That's awesome! I would be super happy if it did happen, but have low expectations. And DS loves bf so much that I don't have the heart to wean him...

@periwinklebee: I've never worn anything, but I HAVE gotten pregnant while breastfeeding. Twice. Once when DS1 was nursing 2-3 times a day, and once while DS2 was nursing 6-7 times a day  Sooooo it can be done (for some people! don't use breastfeeding as birth control! haha)

@periwinklebee: I use a Tempdrop. It is phenomenal! It is worn on your upper arm (with the sensor towards your armpit) but can also be worn in one's bra under the armpit. It comes with the arm band (in an adjustable small or a large). TD records for your BBT 2-3 hours before you wake and affords you the raw data so you can see your highest temp of the evening and how well you slept. It allows for one to sleep in (which is spectacular!) The TD logarithm evens out temps due to restlessness, alcohol, breast feeding AND TD can cancel out fluctuations due to sleeping with extra layers or sleeping with a window open. I dual temp to make certain the pattern is similar (* Note - TD temps can run .20 to a full degree higher BBT reading than oral temps) and found it especially useful to do the first 30 days when the device is adjusting to your temps and sleep patterns using it's logorithm. My pattern is pretty much spot-on between the 2 with exception if I am ill or mouth breathing ... in that case, my oral temps are effected but my TD temps are fairly smooth! One can track while pregnant, postpartum to see if one is ovulatory yet, to track when TTC, or when TTP. I use the ovacue app it comes with AND plug my BBT data into FF as well. The battery IS replaceable. Honestly, I wouldn't BBT for TTC without it because it is AH-MAZING!

P.S. If you are going to purchase one at any time, wall me as I have a code I can share that will take $10 off.

@Mamabear: @Sams Mom: 😉😂 You two make me laugh! 💙

I used an Ava bracelet and liked it. It's not tested for cycles over like 40 days though so it won't be useful for giving you a fertile window if your cycles are still long and irregular. It should still give you a decent temp shift after o though so you'll at least know when to test/expect af. I know they're realeasing a new version (or already have) so you can likely get a gently used one for cheap.

A couple of the ladies still ttc are using temp drop so hopefully they'll chime in with how they like those.

ETA I totally agree with @samsmom that the Ava having a non replaceable battery sucks! It's pricey and basically marketed as being good for only 1 baby. Although mine is 2 plus years old and still going strong

Sooooo I'm about to sound like a crazy pants if you don't follow the POAS board.

I've used a tempdrop since October?, and an amazing person gifted me her Ava. I lent the Ava to a friend that had struggled with primary infertility for 2 1/2 years and got pregnant her 2nd or 3rd month with the Ava. So I'm getting the Ava back this week after the flu clears my house... And I will be wearing both.

So far I will tell you my experience with temp drop. It works amazingly well with irregular sleep, and you don't have to wake at the same dang time every day for it to work! It takes 30 days to get a basic feel for you, then an additional 30 to settle in to only changing 2 days back. It does integrate with one app, but basically leaves the raw data there for you to interpret.

Ava: only marketed and tested for TTC, reads more than temp, has a limited life span (no battery replacement)

I can give more on that after I use it

I used an Ava bracelet for awhile and it was okay. My cycles are pretty standard - ovulation almost always around CD12-13 but for some reason Ava could never predict my cycles correctly. I finally got fed up with the thing and threw it in the trash and got pregnant the first cycle I stopped using it :silly:

I know other people have had good luck with it, though.

I feel like when I looked into this a few years ago the technology just wasn't there yet, but curious if anyone has used a cycle tracking device lately, and whether it worked?

I'm still breastfeeding my toddler and my period only recently returned, so things have been a bit wonky. I don't feel like taking an OPK every single day for who knows how long, as I don't have a lot of hopes for getting pregnant while breastfeeding anyway (though I would be super delighted if it happened). Mostly it drives me crazy to have no idea what's going on with my cycle, because of course then I need to take a HPT just in case, then it's negative, and so on...
