He hated it when the formula and BM were mixed together. Who knows what the real reason was, but in my head, he was thinking, this BM tastes terrible. I was literally sobbing that night with two screaming babies and a husband who was sipping formula and I googled t and was like "shoot, look at this." My LOs did not end up needing this kind of formula, but I watched one of my best friends go through such hell with her son trying to figure out the eating issues. Once he was fully on Elecare, he turned into a happy, satisfied little guy. He had just been in so much pain for his whole tiny life up to that point. So sad! But just know that someday you will hit that turning point and things will look up. A friend whose son had MSPI had extra cans leftover. Anyway, we mixed it with breastmilk and my LOs screamed and screamed, refused the bottle, acted like they were being poisoned when they tried it. They had been drinking enfamil fine so it was really strange. I noticed there was a weird smell to it so my husband actually drank some and said it had a terrible chemical taste. We mixed some fresh up without mixing with breastmilk and he tasted that too. It didn't taste good, but not the crazy bad chemical taste. I googled it and apparently this is quite common and it's not recommended that you mix<br /> Elecare and breastmilk because of the potential for t to take on this awful taste. I would try giving the Elecare on its own without mixing with breastmilk and try to go cold turkey over to it as @LuLu Mom: suggested. We did cold turkey and we did it in the worst possible way and I went on work travel for 1 week and left no breast milk. He took to neocate like nothing for exactly one week. When I came back, he refused to touch the stuff. We didn't have to switch and continued to breastfeed (which I understand is not an option for you). But he drank 9 oz at a time. It was a godsend for us because it reset his system and he started gaining weight after that. So maybe it's time for a mommys weekend. But they will not starve and they will eat. It is so hard to work through the difficulties before that. We need to get baby onto formula but she just hates it. She has MSPI (and likely FPIES) and I can't seem to eliminate all the foods that are upsetting her tummy (thus the formula). Even if I do 1 part formula to 7 parts breastmilk shes unhappy. Every sip is a battle. I really can't forsee her suddenly liking it but she has to. It's an elemental (Elecare) and my understanding is they all taste bad. </p> <p>I don't like the idea, but has anyone had luck flavoring their formula to get their little one to drink it? </p>
