Thanks everyone for your replies. I will try to relax and do the best I can. Even if I have to supplement, as long as I have enough to BF when I'm at home, I'll be happy.

I hope you are able to boost your output, there's definitely time for it to increase.I did just want to chime in and add that supplementing during the day doesn't mean you can't ebf at night/morning when you are home. I can't pump at work so my 4 month old gets formula at daycare but I breastfeed the rest of the time. It took some time to figure out but works great so I am not stressed and she still gets at least half her feeds from nursing. Good luck, you have lots of great options!

Also, my supply is never greatest in the morning. I need to eat really well before I get good output. I almost always pump at night, before bed, and that is where I made up most of my ounces.

@pmrlady: @snowjewelz: My first week back was really stressful. I was still getting used to the pump, my job, balancing it all, etc. I would say don't rush to any judgements quite yet. My supply definitely went up after a few weeks! :goodluck:

Depending on how much energy you have on the weekend you can cluster-pump between nursing sessions (every hour or two) or after feeds. Keeping your baby close/on the breast and lots of skin to skin will definitely help. Fenugreek, oatmeal, plenty of water. Good luck, mama!! I hope it helps.

I just finished my first full week back to work and I agree it's tough! I JUST make enough... I agree with others that my am pump yields the mosh so I try to massage my breasts and go a lil longer if possible. Don't give up! I'm trying diff things too to see what combo works to increase my supply!

When I went back to work I pumped 3x at work and 2c at home (after am nursing and after she went to bed) to make 12 oz for the next day. I did this for about a month and then didn't need to anymore. Try to just relax and not worry about it. I'm sure your supply will be fine in a few weeks !

Make sure you nurse when you are with her, eat oatmeal, take fenugreek, and try to relax. I only pump 2x at work. I think tour supply is still establishing, so nursing and pumping every 3 hours should help.

It really makes a difference to be consistent with your pumping schedule at work. Don't let work interfere. I usually have to look at pics of my baby to help with let down. I agree: the morning pump will always yield the most milk. So I try and make the morning one really count (making enough time to pump). For me, it does help to keep my LO at the boob as much as possible on the weekend. It does seem to jump start it again. I know it's not helpful to say this, but stressing does not help. Wishing you luck!!

Hello bees,

I went back to work this week after maternity leave (LO is 2 months) and boy am I stressed out over the milk situation. I am only able to fit in 3 pumping sessions a day for about 20 min (15 min pumping and 5 min setup/cleanup) and I am barely making enough milk for the next day. LO doesn't eat much, about 10 oz for the time that I am gone. On Monday I was able to pump about 9 oz but towards the end of the week, I only did 7! The only way I could leave enough milk was to add a pumping session in the morning after I nurse her since that's when I'm at my fullest. But I am really worried that I'm not going to be able to keep up for long without supplementing if my supply is already decreasing after just 1 week back at work =(

So I am wondering now that it's Friday, if my output will increase again on Monday from nursing over the weekend, or is 2 days not enough to change anything? Anyone have any tips or experience with trying to increase supply over the weekend? I am planning on pumping at least in the mornings to save up a few more oz for the following week.

And by the way, now that I'm back at work, I can honestly say I hate pumping! (I work in the hospital so I don't have my own private office). I've already thought about just supplementing with formula but then I feel guilty because I still want to be able to breastfeed when I'm with her so I don't want my supply to totally vanish if I don't pump at work.
