I haven't been in ages, and I was only in Bologna briefly and then took the train to Florence (where I was living for a few months).</p> <p>Personally, I think Pisa is a half day visit at best. If you visit the tower and baptistery you're done. Lucca is a beautiful walled city on the way that I would highly recommend spending a little time in!! Of all of the places I went in Italy, Lucca always stood out!! My most favorite place in Italy was by far Florence (Firenze). They have a large outdoor market and my most favorite gelato place ever - Gelateria Carabe, which is nearby the Galleria dell'academia where Michelangelo's David statue is. I agree that Pisa can be done in a day, it's very touristy. I did visit Bologna and while there, visited nearby Parma (where Parmesan cheese comes from!), but I can't remember very much from that trip. Pisa was kind of 'meh' for me, but if you haven't visited Florence, I would definitely check it out!
