Our Realtor bought us a one year policy when we closed, and two months after we bought the house, the ceiling above our pantry started to leak. They sent someone out to take a look and ended up replacing a huge section of our roof. </p> <p>Keep pushing and they'll continue to give. We'll see how it goes, but I'm super frustrated at the moment because they won't expedite the repair request since the high today is only 94 degrees and not 95 degrees or higher. Said they only covered the leak, not "cosmetic" repairs. Our sewer line backed up 10 days after we bought the house (yes!) We called a plumber, then their packet of info arrived. We called them and they were like "you have to call us first." We told them we hadn't even received the info yet, and they still said we had to go through them (even though they use the same company we had called.) They refused to pay over the phone, even while they acknowledged that there was no way we could have called them. Anyway, we ended up sending a pretty forceful letter and got some money in return. Keep pushing!!!</p> <p>The vent over the stove broke so we called to get an estimate and sent it to the Home Warranty Company. They denied the claim because they said the vent was made in Italy. Which company? I have always had good experience with the ones I've worked with, but it tends to be company specific. A lot of people don't realize that they often won't replace things that break (the main reason they are bought is for the replacement of A/C units), they will usually just give you an amount of money towards the replacement. Now that something broke though they're being a huge PITA. We got our Realtor involved too since we had him ask them lots of questions prior to purchase. Their offer of what they will pay is really lousy, so I'm not sure how far I want to push this thing but at the same time we have emails from them contradicting what they're saying now. </p>
