@Katm558: I totally understand! It was really my daughter who sealed the deal. I just couldn't imagine inflicting the awful bed rest and recovery on her. But everyone has to find the right path for themselves and I would never discourage you from following your dreams!

@mrs.jacks - I've really enjoyed reading your posts about the adoption process, and its something that DH and I have always considered. You are definitely helping me to open my eyes again to adopting a child. Thank you so much for sharing what it is like, because, as you have stated, not a whole lot of people actually open up about it.

Because of my health, I know that this should definitely be considered as an option, but there is a part of me that still wants to go through being pregnant. I guess I still hold onto a thin hope that I will have a normal pregnancy, and get to go out and be the cute pregnant woman shopping for baby clothes, which I didn't really get to do previously (all my shopping was online!). I know it sounds selfish, but its still a dream of mine...

@Katm558: I had issues (though not as severe as yours) that led us to decide that we would adopt this time. I just couldn't see myself going through all that again, especially knowing that I'm at increased risk in the future.

Thanks for the support, ladies!

@artbee - I know how difficult migraines can be because my mom has chronic migraines every day of her life. I totally sympathize with you, and REALLY hope your surgery is a success. Please keep me updated; I'm very interested in hearing about your recovery and progress. And I totally know how hard it is to take care of little ones when you have an excruciating headache, because that is one of the symptoms of my pre-e.

I am doing a bit better now, but honestly I just don't have the time to think about it. I've been going to the doctor every other week now, and my liver enzymes are s-l-o-w-l-y going down towards normal levels, but at least I don't have the liver pain anymore. My BP is starting to stabilize, thankfully! I'm just hoping that this willball go away soon. We've been advised to wait at least three years before TTCing again, and that's what's best for our family planning too. But because this has happened with both pregnancies, and it's gotten steadily worse and we've been told that the next time could be even more so, my DH said he might not want to have more children, which absolutely totally breaks my heart. Even though I was the one physically going through everything, I would definitely do it again. Nine plus months of issues is totally worth a lifetime of increased joy for a third child, at least in my eyes.

Thankfully I have been lucky and haven't had any complications, I actually wasn't aware that so many things could happen afterwards.

I'm so sorry you're going through all that and hope you start feeling better soon!

I have severe migraines, that have gotten pretty bad since having my LO. They're now daily, and it's hard to take care of a baby when you can barely lift your head off your pillow. I'm very lucky to have a lot of family near me to help out. And my husband's job is pretty flexable so he can always come home early if he needs, take a half day, etc. Today he was home by 3 because my head is extra bad. I absolutely hate asking for help and I want to take care of my LO myself because I hate missing this time with her, but I don't really have a choice. I'm doing a trial surgery soon so I'll need even more help while recovering, but hopefully it will help in the long term because it might take my migraines away.

So sorry you have to go through that, hope you feel better soon!

@Katm558: Oh no! So sorry to hear. Are you feeling better now? I had really bad wrist and back pain. Nothing too serious though.

Has anyone dealt with any post-partum health issues? How have you dealt with them while caring for a newborn?

While pregnant with my second son, I had gestational hypertension, and he was born via induction two months ago. After I had him, my symptoms got extremely worse, and I was diagnosed with severe post-partum preeclampsia and possibly, HELLP. I am still struggling to get better, my liver has neatly failed, and I continue to have weekly doctors appointments.

While still trying to get better, I'm taking care of my newborn, and my two year old son, while being a SAHM. I feel like I'm having a difficult time coping, and that my basic needs aren't being taken care of because I'm so busy.

Has anyone else been in this type of situation? How did you deal? How are you doing now?
