I love my prenatal yoga. i think a special class is good because many twists and moves are not good when you are pregnant. with all that relaxin in your body you are way more flexible and way more suseptible to injury.

I loved prenatal yoga. It really helped with pelvic and hip pain I was having, and strengthening muscles. I always felt the best I felt all week the day after yoga.

I loved prenatal yoga when I was pregnant (this past fall). Mine was about half stretching, half strengthening poses for childbirth. I always felt so relaxed and centered and much, much calmer afterward. Find an instructor and style that suits you, and it will totally be worth it.

i am finding the cost too in my area is around $18/class, there is one if i sign up for 12 classes, i can get them at $15/class as well.

i think i will start with one or two and see if i like it. Also trying to find a location as close as possible to where i live so i am more likely to go regularly.

Going to my first class tonight actually! I am 15 weeks. It is $18 a class or I can pay $60 a month. I'm just going to pay each time I go since I won't know how I'm feeling or if I want to force myself to go every single week (which I would do if I was paying the monthly charge)

I did two DVDs and loved it. I had awful sciatica and it helped soo much. I did one on neflix and the other was shiva rea. the first was really easy, which was great when my back really hurt and in my 3rd tri. The second was challenging and great for first and second tri. They both had people doing modified positions for those further along. I highly recommend it, You could just try the dvd at home tho if you didn't want to shell out the $$. But it would prob be a nice way to meet some other mamas!

I am a yoga novice but decided to try a prenatal yoga class. It was supposed to be 6 sessions and I made it to 3 (1 was cancelled then my doc limited activities). I found it somewhat interesting. The instructor was very good about telling which poses were modified for prenatal vs how they would be for regular yoga. My understanding was that some poses were modified to avoid twisting of the abdomen but I think most of them were just regular yoga poses (although maybe not held for as long). There were also some restrictions on some poses based upon how far along you are (i.e. no full squats after a certain week, etc).

I took one class a few weeks ago and it was really focused on stretching which I did not enjoy. I want to feel like I am working my muscles when I go to yoga or Pilates. A lot of the women there were in their third trimester so I think that was beneficial to them but I hated it. However, I think it really depends on the teacher. I would say try it out once to see if you like it.

I am thinking about signing up. It is a little pricey though, so i just want to hear what other people have thought of their prenatal yoga classes? How does it compare it to regular yoga?

I have done beginner's level yoga several times in the past and always enjoyed it. I would think prenatal is similar, just the poses are deemed "safe" for pregnancy? and maybe more focus on strengthening muscles for childbirth?
