I would expect that on a longer distance we may have to stop a few times- he does like to get out and run around. I've never seen a seat like that one before!</p> <p>@Maysprout: that's awesome! We biked a lot last summer, but usually it was 6-10 miles and never longer than 12 with him. The one we want to do is a really scenic trail that goes along a Great Lake and I think he'd love it. I bet you easily biked 30+ miles then! My family absolutely LOVES to ride around. Before I got pregnant, I was riding 15-20 miles with my daughter 3-4 times a week. We've also done some longer camping trips like what you've described. A trailer is a good idea, although if your kid is used to the seat, they might prefer that. But a trailer is more comfortable to fall asleep in, and easier to hold toys. </p> <p>I think the key to doing it is to just normalize it - just keep doing it, for longer and longer distances, to get him used to the idea. Lo had just turned 3 and baby was 6 months and they rode in a trailer. I'm not sure how far we went but we were gone most of the day on paved trails. We left late morning and biked about 2 hours stopped for a lunch and hike so lo could run around and I could nurse. We prob were stopped for at least an hour and a half. Then we biked maybe another hour and a half and stopped for a half hour or so to nurse and potty and grab lo another snack and I could nurse. And then biked another hour to two to the destination. The kids were great, they had fun. There were a few minor stops and adjustments but it was surprisingly easier than I thought. The longest we've done with LO is 12 miles last summer and he was antsy by the end. He was in a seat behind our seat though and for long distance we'd probably get a trailer for comfort. He's 3.<br /> With this trail though we'd stop when we finish the 16 miles and get lunch at the town where the trail ends- so it would be broken into two segments<br /> Anyone else done this? How did it go? </p>
