I swear I scroll down on yahoo homepage and there are at least 5 different stories on the Kardashians. Journalism is really suffering.

I actually don't mind one of our local news stations so I'll watch it in the morning if I'm up. GMA comes on after and it's awful! I thought it was supposed to be the morning version of national news but they focus on celebrities...for like 2 hours straight! I feel dumber if I watch it.

What bothers me is when every news story is a video. I WANT OLD SCHOOL NEWS!! Dang it. And I try to stay far away from comments. Yuck. People get ugly online.

@Grace: I was like screaming at the TV. It made me so irrationally angry and annoyed. I even commented on the news article on Facebook.

I cannot believe something this stupid made me so fired up. Having both a September and an October baby, I know the months of conception.

And you're right, there's always a boom in August/September. I remember at our hospital tour the nurse saying they're always busiest in August, September and January-- babies are born on steeler Sundays and Super Bowl Sunday!

This is why I avoid the news if I can help it. I'll listen to NPR every once in a while or local news for info sometimes. I can't stand national news coverage on either end of the political spectrum.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yeah, there's a baby boom every August/Sept. They are just making up stories.

I totally agree. I remember writing a school newspaper in grade 5 and they really hammered home that you had to be objective in the news. That personal opinions were for editorials only.

I listen to NPR because I can't stand regular cable news or other biased networks. I blocked my MIL's Twitter because it was all Tea Party angle stories. It's even worse when she posts Daily Mail articles like they're fact, not a British tabloid. Yep, I can't stand most news sources these days. My husband (not terribly liberal in politics) prefers NPR to other news sources.

Yes! Lately I feel like a lot of major stories have had key information missing, and no one seems to notice.

Two come to mind.
Nationally, a woman was pregnant with her third child (I believe third or fourth) and said her doctors were forcing her into a c-section. The articles never said if she was even a VBAC candidate or what options her doctors gave her. I know at my first prenatal appointment we discussed delivery options; I was straight up told if I chose to have a second csection, I would no longer be a VBAC candidate for children 3+. I have a hard time imagining her team of doctors didn't have the same or similar conversation with her.

Locally (this made me so angry, my pregnancy hormones are in full gear!), the news has been reporting and interviewing doctors about the so-called Polar Vortex babies. Apparently the hospitals are seeing a boom in births in August and September. Am I the only person who remembers the vortex being in January? So annoyed with this.

Oh, and totally keep the celebrity 'news' and gossip off the main news channels - if I'm interested (and usually I am!) I will got to TMZ or whatnot for that information.

Yes, I am rather bothered by it. I need to watch my news - I can't read/listen to it or else my eyes totally gloss over. I usually do need to hear the additional commentary and discussions about the topic, but I want to hear both sides - that's something I can't get from one news channel, and I don't have time to watch all the news channels! I really have to roll my eyes at how biased the different newscasters can be though. I am very conservative, but I can still realize when a story is being unfairly twisted to satisfy conservative agendas - sooo annoying.

This is why I rarely watch the news, I am a receiver of information rather than seeking information I want. I stick to our local paper and M fills me in on world news and big stories as they come up since he reads a lot more news than I do.

I am NOT a fan of celebrity culture being passed off as news, it is artificial garbage. I am with you on that one. But I don't read gossip mags, blogs or watch reality TV (except cooking shows). So I'm not their target viewer.

I hear you. This morning I watched Foxnews and after Shawn Hannity gave his report the three day cease-fire is holding in the Middle East he added his commentary that Jerusalem should be the capitol of Israel. The Today Show and the rest of the morning shows have moved to an anchor personality fornat focusing on celebs. I just want the anchors to report the news and keep their personal opinions and anecdotes to themselves. There are already so many outlets for celebrity stories like all the shows that come on between 7-8 pm and all the tabloid/ celeb mags.

I am so frustrated by the "news" lately -- between the lack of unbiased stories (whether cnn or Fox News, every story seems to have an angle), the ugliness in online comments section, and the celebrity stories presented alongside news about Gaza, I really cannot take it anymore. I think I am feeling particular frustrated this week because the supposed Jay Z/Beyonce divorce is making front page of certain NY papers, every. single. day, and is in turn being picked up by major news outlets. First, there are a million more important things to report on than a celebrity divorce rumor...second, why the F is cnn reporting on a "story" that first appeared in the Post... Third, why are we willing this couple (any couple really -- I felt the same anytime divorce rumors reach fever price) to get divorced? Ugh -- I just find the negativity of the whole thing overwhelming sometimes. Ok, vent over.
